  7. i was thinking about joining the cba... Rlarkin..... Could you ive me a name of the place where thay sell coal i wouldent mind going for a 4 hour drive to get it sometime!!! Just gotta find some way to make my folks go...
  8. yes..... i welded some stainless vacume tube together once to make a forge....think it works fine...i was having a hard time but i think that was kuz i was usin a gassless a the time
  9. I recently moved out to cali( about 3 months ago). My dad is still living in canada till he can get his vise to come down with all of his stuff. This means my coal forge, coal, anvil,tools and ect are all still there. I have setup a small charcoal forge and a sledge head in a bow of concrete till i get my smithy down. I am only 13 but was wondering if there was someone near me that i could go to your smithy sometime and get some tips and pointers...i have been forging since May 2008... I have no probs with it its just i dont know any other smiths arround. I live in southern california, costa mesa.
  10. LOL same here pault....i go there and its so old that i can pull the spikes outa the ground with no effort...i found 40 feet of rebar just sitting there, lots of plate and other stuff! i now have 100+ spikes
  11. i have heard or tempering a knife in a toaster oven...how well does it work? i was thinking of getting one to temper in....or getting a small propane torch.... also a small clip on propane stove to modify....
  12. i am pretty shure if u leave it in the hot embers an leave it till its cool it will sofen it up...if i am wrong please correct me!

  15. 2 punches and a new leaf veining tool,also a pall pein hammer,plyes for flat stock and a sharpening stone. all for 7 bucks
  16. ya..you can hand make them.....you can use 1/4 inch if you want but it will not last as long as 1/2 inch....thats a good size to use....mines a welded fire pot..i think there just as good as a cast one..

Ok well its time to make some hand forged hardware for the bedroom....does anyone hav any ideas or plans for some dresser pulls..... i have few ideasthat im going to try tomorrow...if all goes well maby i will make a BP I am also thinking of a side table with hand forged hardware. Thanks for any help!!

  21. NICE!!! only downside is if you want to change the vice to another stand...the legs cemented in....i would have used a piece on 1 inch tube then put the leg in it...Other than that it would be super sturdy!!!
