  1. Frosty, Here in North Alabama the land is thick with the Nigerian Dwarf goat. I guess that is because of their easy going nature.
  2. Ausefire, A buddy of mine had a good number of the wires messed up in a new-ish 2007 dodge with Hemi motor. The insulation was some kind of eco-loving soy based polymer, the varmints did love it!
  3. Branstetter, Let us know how it works out. If you get some low(er) light dragon's breath photos post them, I bet it looks like something else.
  4. Branstetter, That looks very nice, I bet the bend in the pipe helps the air and propaine mix. Do you think you can forge weld with it? Ernest
  5. Dodge, That was my point, I do not think that some dude on the other side of the Earth is going to give a darn about my eyesight as long as he gets paid.
  6. There was a comedy bit about two guys where kept buying cheap knock off goods on the street in New York City. One that stood out was these "eclipse watching safety glasses" that looked like binoculars with head gear. I always worry about getting PPE from places that can vanish in to smoke, along with my sight.
  7. I make tools because I am both cheap and broke. I worry about something with a low production value that does not have even a Harbor Freight to stand behind it because what if the people that make this thing use dark smoked plastic without the needed UV protection. You could be killing your sight just a bit at a time and not know it. This is like the "Canada Meds" scam that I get calls from. I have no way of knowing if this is good protection.
  8. That cross is really nice work, you are getting better all the time. I bet they would look great with a few lines of brushed brass. If you felt like trying something new you could get some lead free solder and tin plate part of the cross. It works for steel frying pans so it should work for a steel cross. Ernest
  9. Good Morning All, I was wondering if you folks thought that some of these Cultivator "C" Shank tines would work stacked together for a bow linkage? I do not have access to any of the equipment to bend the spring without killing myself. I am not wedded to this one tine but something like it. Width: 1-3/4 in. Thickness: 3/8 in. Dimensions: 16-7/8 in. Long x 16 in. High Curve begins 8-7/8 in. down the shank 117° curved angle Heat treated 5160- RC 38-42 steel Curved end has a 1/2 in. and 1/4 in. bolt hole Straight end has a 21/32 in. bolt hole Used on a wedge or V-shaped cultivators Can be used on ASC 10398 and ASC 65067 cultivators
  10. Wpearson, If I had the cash to drop I would get one of the KA75 hammers, they look very neat! I think I have broken the shell on my poor little brain and not understand how thing work with the Zoller mod valve setup. If nothing else I can make some fun Halloween props. Ernest

    Striking Vise

Jake, So that would be a lift with your legs type of thing. Nice looking hardware.

I like the way you have that set up. Is that a DIY anvil or one of them fancy store bought anvils? Ernest
  13. John and Ptree, Please let me start by saying I am a hobby smith that knows less about Pnuematics than my dog. I think I now understand how this is supposed to work and this post has provided a missing bit. Tell me if I have this right. The 2 position, 4 way, 5 port valve's exhaust is connected to the "button" (what you use to start the hammer). As long as the exhaust is blocked no air can move. Since no air can move the hammer can't move. The roller valve is (tell me if I am wrong, I can take it) in a "pressed down" state when the hammer is up top. This shoots air to the 2/4/5 valve to send the ram down. Once the hammer falls the roller valve closes and the 2/4/5 valve sends the ram up. As long as the exhaust is blocked no air can move at all, open the valve blocking the exhaust and the 2/4/5 valve and the roller valve can do their thing. Is that about it? Ernest
  14. Nice hole, it is very big! From the looks of the sides both of these holes the excavator operator is a artist.
  15. Arftis, Do you have any good places on line to look for a 1725 rpm motor? I could see about a dryer motor, I would think that should be in that speed range, what do you think? I am also trying to build a non-reciprocating single blow air hammer on a lark since that sounds cool! Ernest.
  16. Mr. Newman, I have been trying to wrap my head around the air plumbing and I am a bit lost. If I wanted to have a non-reciprocating hammer that I can activate by (for example) press a foot switch, the ram comes down and then goes back up again. ------------------Note---------- I have no idea if you would let your foot off a switch to make the piston retract but that would be my guess.-------------End Note---------------- Any suggestions would be a big help thanks Ernest.

    Small tire hammer

Never mind about the video question, I just saw the video, looks good!

    Small tire hammer

Did you use a set of plans for this hammer and if so where from? looks good, let me know if you have any video of it in operation. Erenst
  19. Bruno, First off I got to say that is a great bit of work. How many electrodes did you use in welding all that steel together? Do you have any video of the hammer in operation? I am trying to understand the physics of the hammer so if you do not mind would you please (if you know off hand) what is distance for a down stroke of the hammer and how many beats per min at a normal "cruising speed"? thanks
  20. I just saw a 5lb (or so) box at the Habitat Re-Store but I did not fell like parting with my pocket money just yet. I think they want $10.00 for them but they were a bit rusty.
  21. Where do you get your nails? Ernest
  22. Thanks for the info. I picked up 4 or 5 sets of Black and Decker black oxide at Tractor Supply for $3.00 a set on close out and so far they are working about like I would expect. the nice think about these is I will not mind if the get used up. I will keep an eye out for the HSS bits. What do you use for cutting oil? On the shorts and sandles topic, have you ever seen Dual Survival, the hippy guy (Cody) lives in a Southwestern/Hobbit style house and I do not think he owns any shoes.
  23. Son of a xxxxx, that is a new one on me! thanks
