Not sure where they are made, but they are pretty nice in my opinion. Don't recall seeing "Made in America" on em.....But didn't see China or Mexico mentioned either. I have the strait and 90 deg set. They have served me well. I have no complaints.

I know when I was first looking for a used anvil in the over 100# range the pickings were pretty slim and the prices were way too high. I ended up saving just a little bit more and purchased a new Nimba Titan. I'm sure that I could have found one eventually........but I gave up after a while. I couldn't see paying new price for an old anvil that was beat to hell. I wish you the best of luck in your search.......but I don't consider South Texas to be an anvil rich environment. I'm still on the hunt for a london pattern or south german pattern with a reasonable price tag......the search continues.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see if I can incorporate that bottle opener in the next one....... Might not be practical..........but i like it!!!!!

........Well......I thought it was an original idea.........guess not. But I bet the guy that made those skull hooks didn't get to drink beer, stand around a fire, and beat the hell out of a piece of red hot metal while he was building his.......... guess there really is no such thing as an original idea.

I made this a couple years back for a friend that wanted to show off a skull mount in his office. He wanted to be able to pivot the mount so that you could see both sides of the rack. deer mount.mov I was pretty happy with the way most of it turned out. I think I could have done a little better job on the scroll on the bottom. But its a learning process right. If I could whip em out a little faster I think I could make a little coin with these. I have never seen a similar design. One of my first original creations. What do you guys think?

I used a lincoln 135 pro mig from lowes for years and ran the flux core wire so I didn't need to keep filling up a bottle. It is much more convenient an doesn't mind dirty metal so much as running gas. It worked great and never had an issue with it. As a matter of fact I still have it. We have built Boat trailers, BBQ pits, you name it and it works great. For steel work, a hobbyest probably never needs a better machine. When I decided I wanted to start into Aluminum and Stainless is when I started buying better machines. I now have a Miller Syncrowave 200 and a Millermatic 350P so the little lincoln mostly sits on the shelf an watches its big brothers do the work these days. But I still consider it an excellent machine and a bargain

Looks really good. Looks like one of my first projects. Bout the same size too. But I used a cocobolo handle. Be proud of the accomplishment, I know I was. By pro blade smithing standards, It may not be perfect. But my first one still holds a special place in my heart.

do you have any pictures of what you are using? Im sure some one here can offer some advice if we know exactly what you are dealing with. You definitely don't need anything fancy to get started. But if you are using a coal forge and its not getting hot enough you probably don't have enough air flow. Might be the way ya got it piped up. Pics would help.

I know when I chipped the edge on my shinny new Nimba......it sure felt like a big deal. I don't think my anvil felt it but it sure hurt me. In retrospect it made me take a flapper wheel to the edges and soften em up a bit which is the best thing I did for it. I find that a radius edges is much more useable and doesn't mar up what I'm beating on. I still got a couple of inches of sharp edge incase I need it but I rarely use that section of the anvil. Sharp edges seem to cause more problems for me than they solve. I agree with Frosty and Russell. Unless you knocked out a big chunk....dress the edges and rock on.

A hook is always a good place to start. Depending on how you want to do it you can cover pretty much all the basics. Tapering square, turning to round, planishing, scrolling the tip, maybe even a decorative twist in the middle. If you are felling adventurous....you could even punch and drift a few holes in the end to attach it to something with some bolts. You can pretty much take it as far as your skills will allow without too much pounding involved. Plus that.....the shop can almost always use another hook. This was my first attempt in the forge.

Well......I got em. Now I just got to watch em and wait for my dang hammer to get here!!!! This might make the waiting more difficult!!! ​

Well here are my first 3 presentable attempts. They actually will open a beer. I vigorously tested all 3 .....just to be on the safe side. I think on my next try I'm gonna try to do one like Black Frog does. I think those are awesome

Wow....those are cheap. I know very little about power hammers and nothing about the ones you listed so I am not going to weigh in on that subject. I just ordered a new power hammer and it isn't here yet so maybe I'll have an opinion later. From your original post you say that your anvil crapped out? Does that mean that it is unusable? This is just my way of thinking but I would not view my new hammer when it arrives as a replacement for my anvil........more of a supplement to the heavy work that I use to do on the anvil. Not sure what you are making.......maybe you won't need it.......but mine is indispensable. If I had to chose between a decent anvil and a power hammer.....the anvil would win every time. Just my opinion.....take it for what its worth.

Well, Ive never traveled around to do shows ....so this may not fit your needs. But I move it all over the shop with the use of a hand truck and it is no problem moving it. This is obviously not a fisher so it is secured differently but this one is held down by 2 1/2' bolts. I can get it off if i need to in less than a minute with a ratchet and combo wrench
