  1. i use a rivet forge and i would not want that brake drum in there.Just give it a good lining of your choice(i use plain old clay)and start heating and beating :D

  3. just to clarify only tong #3 are tiny the rest are around 1.5 ft long
  4. yeah i thought of the pliiers thing too i think they would make a kind of cool item to sell at craft fairs

  6. wow i didnt know tiny tongs had so many uses!!!Any way here are pics of my first 5 sets of tongs first pair these are from re bar:( second pair also from rebar:( 3rd pair(the tiny tongs from above)these were from mild 4th pair(personal best)also from rebar:( 5th pair(i didnt do as good a job on these because they r a different kind and are harder for me) these were also from rebar:( and the whole family the reason i use rebar is because it is what i have not because its what i want to use thoughts or comments appreciated rhett barnhart

    tiny tongs

    decided to post these cuz i think they are purty cool :D also for a beginner making tongs it is a great way to practice technique because one can make a lot of tong blanks in 15min.Anyway here ere some pics any thought or comments welcome rhett btw this is my 3rd pair of tongs

  14. ok guys got a few up dates i finallly ground the knife and hand sanded the blade to 600 here are some pics of me slotting the gaurd and here is how i seat the gaurd....block of wood with a 1/2 in hole in it ok guys that is all for now i will be done soon :) oh and also i bought micarta for the handle but when i drilled it the bit found a soft spot and curved and broke:( the bit ended up breaking and the micarta block split in half now i will have to use it on a full tang john it sounds like you have it figured out,also thanks for the pointers they help!

    new vise

    I got post vise for christmas and would like to know what it is/show it off on the vise's font jaw it says new london conn (i think this stands for connecticut) NO. 40 if yall can give me any info on this vise it would be great thanks,rhett

Hog hunting is usually done with a pack of pit bulls they run it tired sorry u have two different setsof dogs,bay dogs and catch dogs the pit bulls arent unleashed until the boar is cornered they run it tired force it to surrender and lay down usually without touching the hog unless your dogs are attack happy you have a seriously trained bunch of catch dogs if they will lay down and quit usually the hunters carry pry sticks or screwdrivers to pry the dogs off the hog then tie them to a tree p.s. we once had a dog chew off a small tree he was leashed to just so he could get to the hog lol
  19. thanks john that is just the kind of reply im lookin for!!I am new to all kinds of damascus so if anybody has tips and tricks please speak up!!Could you expand a little about workin on the vertical axis?
  20. i was asked for pictures of this so here it is here is the billet with lines ground in ready to be forged in and here are pictures of the finished billet sorry my photography is lacking :( i will post wip pics of the knife enjoy
