  1. 6" x 1.5" coil heating 1/2" bar. The fiberglass tubing to protect to coil did not hold up well to the heat of the metal, anyone have any suggestions for a tough, heat resistant coating? maybe some kind of dip coating?
  2. 2nd gen about ready for testing! It sure is compact now.
  3. Looking forward to your work John! 2013 will be a good year for steam hammers and induction forges :)
  4. A work of art! A nice mechanical powerhammer would look great in there.
  5. There are many ways to get to an end product, if you have the drive to pursue it and learn you will figure out the things that you need. Blacksmithing has been around for just about forever, so if you think you're doing something new, chances are you're not. Work hard and think creatively.
  6. I use 1/2" round, square would work too, just a little more work.
  7. Who else was hoping Santa would bring a video of these hammers moving some metal? :(
  8. Hows the rebuild going? Have you had time to get it back together with the new bearing?
  9. Very cool! Looks like they would sell faster than you could make them.
  10. Grant had some cool toys. http://youtu.be/ZSfKAtVn9P8
  11. Nice video, do you have one of the hammer moving some metal? I can see butts on other websites. :)
  12. Of all the things youve done I bet you never expected hinges to be the thing to get you into a magazine, lol. Very cool though, they look good, I cant wait to see the hobbit.
  13. Thats a good lookin forge! You'll have to take some pictures of it when you fire it up. Everything in your shop really shows you put a lot of time and effort into it, organized and useful, I like it!
  14. Looks to be in very good shape. You might be able to get around $3 per pound out of it, maybe more, maybe less, depends on the buyers.
  15. Im sure they will come in handy eventually, worth having for sure.
  16. I love the look of the copper, all the little details in it are awesome too.
  17. Very nice! clean it up with a wire brush and oil then show us more pics. The edges look great too, I'll never buy an anvil again with worn out edges.
  18. Very nice, I like the shape of the blade, it looks nice and stabby lol.
  19. Looks like a great hammer! Hope to see some videos when you get it running.
  20. I have a chili forge as well, they are great gas forges. If your going to be working small material at low psi I found that if you block off the back opening about 75% with a fire brick or something it will hold in heat much better.
  21. Both those you posted are GS tongs, just go to his website, he makes lots of different types.
