  1. i used to use motor oil it works good. but i started using peanut oil for hardening, it works good and it smells alot better then burnt motor oil
  2. so i didn't know where to put this so i thought here would be good. i am working on a knife and i want to use some brass that i have laying around and i don't if i can forge it. is it possible, how hot and all that good stuff. if some one can give me some info that would be greatly appreciated. (:
  3. yeah, the best way to get great deals is to do some work for some old farmers and they will know of one somewhere and you can get a good deal. you just gotta look.
  4. i know it was good and i got a double burner propane forge brand new for another 100 bucks, i already have one so know i have 2 (:

how did you get the metal to look like that?
  7. yeah i forgot to talk about that haha
  8. i forged this knife from an old buck saw blade, it has a 3 inch blade elk antler handle and mosaic pins. its just a little skinner knife with some forged scale still up to give it some character to it.
  9. so i was wondering where would i get a custom made metal stamp for my work? or would it better just to acid etch it?
  10. id say try to get the seax a little straighter in the handle. but other size really good work man!
  11. thank you all for the complements! i really do like the sinew wrap, i didn't know what to do there so i just did that and it turned out pretty good. the hardening and tempering- all i did was just heat the blade up to dull red and dip it in motor oil. and the tempering i put it in a oven at 400 degrees f.
  12. XXX XXXX man looks great! I'm working a a sword now too that i really shouldn't be doing but it so hard to resist it.(:
