  2. A piece of bitumen walks into a bar and orders a drink. Up the back of the bar another piece of bitumen is cursing, swearing, throwing glasses around and picking fights.   15. i too am gathering scrap for a hammer,the anvil should be min of 10:1,better 15:1 to hammer/tup weight.i mention this as you said "For the anvil I was considering the large pipe or 4" sq tube"
  16. thanks john for both of the videos.my 3 year old sat on my lap and watched the axe video,he never moved or fidgeted.he didn't speak,the at the end he asked "can we make an axe daddy"your work is inspirational on so many levels,thanks mat.

  18. great pic 1904 ,to get a shot like that it would have been large format 6in/4in or 8in/10in film/plate size add a dark shop slow speed film in those days and poor men would have had to stay still for a good few seconds,hence the wooden poses of the smiths.thanks for the link.

  24. i found this 60lbs bit of rr track it was too pitted along the face to work with, so i thought id use it upright.hear it is ready to be cemented in a bucket.i dressed it for knife making,a small muilty tool.the face has been polished to 120 grit.i will have to make a cover for the hot cut when its not in use its sharp!
