March 30, 20233 yr Our changeover deadline is April 15th and it was barely below freezing this morning with highs pushing the low 40sf. I'd forgotten about tire changeover and me with busted leg bones. I've been released to partial weight bearing but the pickup truck tires are way above it. I'm pretty sure I can get the SUV tires loaded. Maybe I'll just leave the pickup home till the snow flies next fall. Heck I take it out on the road so seldom we have suspend the insurance except when we need it. Frosty The Lucky.
April 27, 20233 yr Author I escaped to Turkey for a few days, but it is colder here than in St. Petersburg, and the second day there are showers with thunderstorms. I love this country very much. Hospitable and friendly residents. Excellent climate. It is easy and fast to fly from Russia. They are having a hard time right now. 2 years of covid, earthquake. The war in Ukraine also hurts them a lot. This year there are much fewer tourists from Russia. Usually it is 30% of all. VID_20230426_210839.mp4
April 27, 20233 yr Looks great, wish I were there. Where are you and what are the ruins? Martha and I were in Istanbul, Kushadasi, Ephesus, and the Dardenelles about 12 years ago and loved it. It was about a month later in the year than now and the wildflowers were great. Would go back in a minute. G

April 28, 20233 yr Alex: George was asking about the location of the ruins and who built them. Frosty The Lucky.
April 28, 20233 yr Yeah, and Alexandr answered my question. Sidi is a resort city on the south coast of Turkiye with extensive Greek and Roman ruins. I would like to visit someday. I could spend weeks or moths wandering around that country. G
April 29, 20233 yr Sidi the city. I must've been set on slow when I replied I was thinking Alex meant Side as in side view. Sometimes I amaze myself. Frosty The Lucky.
April 30, 20233 yr I am so glad someone said that was the name of the town. Kind of confused on what the giant heart next to the word "side" meant.
April 30, 20233 yr Author The rains are over. Life is getting better. VID_20230430_212051.mp4 VID_20230430_212356.mp4
May 2, 20233 yr Author Hi Jer! The main tourist season in Turkey starts in mid-May. It is still cold for the local population. Therefore, there were no more than 15 visitors in the entire water park. Rode all the hills without queues.
May 2, 20233 yr No ques is my definition of a good time anywhere! I've only ever been to one water park, I think the only one in Anchorage, maybe in Alaska. "H2Oasis" by name and bills itself as a tropical Island in Alaska. It's completely enclosed. It's still there, I need to see if Deb wants to go get wet! We went with a couple of Deb's son's friends from Michigan, they sort of adopted Dab. Most of my friends were included as family when I was growing up too. Anyway, John ad Amy P. were hitting a miniature golf course and water park in every state as a sort of honeymoon. Happily H2Oasis is next door to an indoor miniature golf course, game place so we made a night of it. Current pictures of the water park look like it's improved quite a bit, there was only one good water slide when we were there, now there are at least 3 adult only flumes and a "beach" to catch a tan with an adult beverage. Much improved! Frosty The Lucky.
May 3, 20233 yr I love the ruins. Being in the USA we just do not have stuff like that here. When i was stationed in Europe that was one of my joys. Going out and seeing the old castles and stuff. But we are a young country and like i have heard said, in Europe a 100 miles is a long distance, while in the USA 100 years is a long time.
May 3, 20233 yr Billy, if you ever get the chance, visit the ruins in the Southwest like Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon. Fascinating. A few years ago my son and I took a tour on the Ute Mountain Resevation which surrounds Mesa Verde National Park and visited ruins that are unexcavated and not claened up for the tourists. There are things like corn cobs scattered around just as they were when they were abandoned in the 12th century. VEry, very cool. GNM
May 3, 20233 yr Billy, you should take a trip to the 4 corners area in the SW and tour the Anasasi ruins, Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde are spectacular. Typing at the same time again I see, George. Safe trip home Alex. Frosty The Lucky.
May 3, 20233 yr I would love to get out west to visit those places. I would also like to go to S. America and Mexico to visit the ruins there. Here in Ohio we do have the mounds, like Serpent Mound and a few others. They are just fewer and further between that what is in Europe and the Mediterranean area. I may never make it to those places but i have sworn that one day i will go to India.
May 3, 20233 yr Oh come ON Billy, 4 corners is only a 2 day drive from you. 2 weeks and you could really cover a lot, maybe almost 0.5% of excavated sites, some guys have spent their whole life exploring, excavating and studying them. They give the best tours. Seriously, how much of India can you see in 2 weeks? Heck, you won't need an interpreter to talk to these Indians. Just funnin you Billy, I'd LOVE to do some world traveling. Frosty The Lucky.
May 4, 20233 yr I was about to recommend the Teotihuacan Pyramids of Mexico City, Billy, but you can't climb them anymore. I googled it. I was lucky enough to go when you still could and went to the top of the Temple of the Sun. Unreal.
