Not happy with the leafing stake on the left, but I plan to reforge it to match the one Aislinn Lewis and Mark Sperry were using at Quad-State.

Thank you. Yes it was, probably worked a lot harder and burned more gas than I should. Guess a self taught education costs you in sweat and money. Seen your videos and subscribed. Take care and thanks again.

True, just wanted to see what I could do with a hammer and chisel and how the metal moves. Will be firing up the grinder the next go around. Take care

Mark has recommended that I round the edges a bit more, but otherwise both he and Aislinn have given their vote of approval.

So here is the the latest forging in the form of a Hot cut for the Refflinghaus.. 

Shes 5160 and mild steel.  the toes are mild. 

The photo of the shorter one in front of the new one is for comparison of 30 years of wear. 

Looks very good. Like everything you make even if it fights you end up winning

OC,   If it ain't working sometimes ya just gotta change gears..    With that new hammer and forge you have going you can start with monster stock and your arm won't get tired at all..  

Naw, I don't believe it!  That was drop forged in a foundry, Jennifer!   The work you do is so perfect looking it's hard to believe it's made by hammer and hand.  Really spectacular.

All it takes is a little bit of file work..   Just doing a little filing hides all sorts of sins..  

 

Filing has saved a lot of my work from looking mediocre to just that next level. I used to hate it, but now I quite enjoy it. But your work looks good even without it Jennifer

Thats kind of you to say..   I was just going over the list of things I have made in the last year..  I can only think of 3 things I have made that I have not filed..  

Forge clean, files fast to finish..  

Forged harshly, files slowly to finish.  

the work you produce inspires..  There are some pretty good newer smiths I find inspiration from.. Really helps me to up my game. 

BillyBones last Heart hook was one such item.  anyhooo, there are a bunch of you guys..
