If you open it's mouth a LITTLE and put a SLIGHT upwards hook in it's lower jaw it would be perfect for opening pull tab cans too.

Making bottle openers has been a common theme for me. 

Some mixed designs I have tried:

I've made lots of skull design variations, this is one of the best ones:

I have made a lot of simple ones from a scrap bar of steel. I have left pieces in different stages of done to show.

And some more other designs also from scrap steel.

I make bottle openers from box end wrenches for mechanic friends. 1" seems to work best.

I use them too. My dad has loads of them in his garage, they're great stuff.

Welcome aboard Earthflow!  We recommend putting your general location in your header.  You never know if there's a member right down the street and some answers depend upon your area.

We'd love to see a picture of the openers you made.  I hope you asked your dad before you made openers out of all his wrenches though.... might make it hard the next time he wants to work on the truck if he can't find his favorite 9/16 box end.
