  1. Looks like a birdhouse on a stand. Have fun.
  2. Anvil, thank. I have chased an other stump and will do your thrick. Looks clean. Waiting for more time and a space for the enginehoist to pass amd lift the anvil from the old stump to its new home In the meantime i use a pallet as a stand (happend to be by accident the correct height).
  3. Had one last year on the shipyard i was working, hitting the towercrane. The earthcable was blown to pieces and the plc was fried. That was that. And we needed to change underpants
  4. Looks like junior sawblades to me. I also have a couple. Have yet get a holder for them
  5. Hardened my 2 punches. They make holes in hot steel. See how long they survive. Also made a dinnerbel for the kids their playhouse. Hope they are happy with it and i don't hate the sound in a couple of months.
  6. Most vans still have leafsprings for the rear or trailers.
  7. Thanks Anvil some practice is never bad. So annealing is heating to Tcrit and slowly cooling (by letting cool down in forge or in vermiculite/woodash) Normalizing is heating to Tcrit and cooling in shopair (on anvil or other unflammable object). So better now normilize couple times (2 or3) before hardening and tempering. Nice sculpture rojo
  8. A nice long evening at the forge. Finally assembled my 2 tongs (finished the blanks the 2nd week of januari). Had to straiten everything, making sure they can move (cleaning up) and rivetting. Went well I think. and then I used them to make 2 punches. One from a piece of spring (maybe a bit to thin) and one from a pandrol (half of it). they are now normalizing (cooling down together with my gasforge). Does a punch needs to be hardenend? (On the pictue the big one is red from the heat, I took the pic and put it back in the forge for the normalizing)
  9. Thats more for pieces than dust. Use the engine till it fries and look for a better sealed one Don't put in in the direct path of the dust and debris. Also make sure the fan is not sucking in air from the same direct path. Keep us updated about the running hours of that engine.
  10. Youtube can help. I looked for "rolling ring from flat". Lots more but all are more or less similar.
  11. With a good roller you can get hoops that are nice and round. You don't have to stop at the seam when they are almost there. You can continue and make those parts round as well
  12. I don't know how common they are in the us, but here in the eu you find very easy squirrelcage or asychronic engines. They are mostly dustproof as in, no dust gets in with the windings.
  13. I mean angle grinder in my post above steve's (steves?). But i agree. Longlivety ia not something you can aspect from it
  14. A grinder has its windings also uncovered (the cheap brands) especially the ones with thr brushes. they go on for quite a while before letting go.
  15. thanks, Etsy has a bigger change of you being found and viewed?
  16. Going online? Going on etsy? Going on the others? Care to explain in more depth? Asking for a friend :ninja:
  17. I believe etsy makes shipping in the us also simple. You can print out your postlabel and also the fee is fairly standerized for size and weight. Start with an etsy. You pay for what you get. They make it relatively easy as a seller. If etsy is a big success, you can always expant to cheaper and/or more freedom. Good luck.
  18. good work. enjoy the "luxe" you have. I can imagine your stuff selling good at autoshows.
  19. Never had a broken spring. Not even when i rented a garage with the original door of 1968 when the building was build. Moist garage was well. The tools i bought new than all rusted in the 3 years i had that unit. Now in an unheated shed, no extra rust appearing.
  20. Wh is not a v-sound, it is softer. (I can't give a word in english, because i don't know any) Gluewhein on the christmismarkets is really nice. Common to see in belgium on those markets as well. Most open a week after sinterklaas.
  21. and on 60Hz; on 50Hz, the engine will run slower so your pumpcapacity will be lower
  22. Frosty, good luck with the recovery.
  23. Made a keychain heart rowan taylor style. happy with the outcome. Also happy with the anvil. Bit more efficient (and also stable, but that is on me).
