  1. I don't want a sewage block lol (Sorry I had to)
  2. True however I like to add more to the mix I find it improves my accuracy. However eveyone that reloads does things different as the saying goes there is more than one way to skin a cat. Also I have ran across the coated steel and the zinc weights before. I hate them they throw me off waiting on them to melt lol. I have started to check them with pliers so I know whats what. Dents mean they get melted no dents mean they get thrown in a bucket. But so far I am still able to get lead ones I got 2 five gallon buckets full a month or so back. Never heard of linotype before. I will have to look into that! Great news!!!!!
  3. Ok that makes alot more sense! Thats purty ingenious I would have never thought about that
  4. I am no expert on a lead hammer but, if it needs to be hard add pewter to wheel weights when you melt them down. It adds antimony.....(i think thats what its called) which makes it stronger and harder. If you go up to your local tire shop with a bucket they will normally fill it up for $10 or there abouts with used wheel weights... donut rule still applies if you want an ongoing relationship with them lol. Sorry for the long post I got excited to talk about something on here that I have a working knowledge of lmbo.
  5. Right on I'm glad. I mess with lead all the time. I cast my own projectiles for reloading ammunition.
  6. Same here. I love to have it where it is just me the wife and our animals, but I am willing to mingle with others when it brings me closer to my goals. And there is an added plus when you do meet someone who is like minded. It is easier to make friends that way.
  7. HA. My brother I have missed you. I am the same way. If I never had to go into town that would suit me fine.
  8. Wow beautiful knife. I really like the handle!
  9. Well, I am no expert but I cast my own projectiles out of wheel weights and either silver solder or pewter when I can get ahold of it. But anyway when I melt my lead I work in a ventilated area (outside) and I wear my respirator and so far Im still alive and kicking. But in my experience if you are uncomfortable doing something it is best to go with your gut.
  10. Thank you. I think you have the exact hammer I am guessing that this one is 8lbs also. Im leaving it alone for now. For heavy hits I have my 4lb sledge. But for 2 dollars I couldn't let it sit on a shelf and collect dust
  11. Went to several junky stores and got a couple of big honkin hammers and another hair dryer in case our other one goes out. One of the hammers has a metal pipe welded on it but I will cut it off and put a wooden one on. Thomas that sounds promising on the old tool shed!. also I may have a lead on an anvil... i hope. I will know more on tuesday
  12. Well I managed to get my table saw operational again and I wired up a 1.5 hp electric motor for my old grinder vut found that I didn't have the right size pulley for the belt...dadgumit. But my wife is on her way to completeing her first project and I am almost done with my nail header. I tell you what fellas this blacksmithing stuff aint for the faint of heart but it sure is fun!
  13. Shoot yeah if you can do it consistently hahaha.
  14. Cool buckle! Be a great one for a smith to wear.
  15. Awesome axe!!! Those tongs look almost the same as the ones I have, are they champion brand?
  16. You made rattlesnakes? That sounds awesome sir. Can we see pictures please? By the way glad your back Ive been missing your posts the past few days!
  17. Dadgum... I just noticed the shipping was $100 thats more than the blower itself. I still like it though. Awesome hat btw Kevin
  18. So I found an awesome piece of history on ebay. I like war memorobilia from Ww1 and Ww2. Anyway it says it produces 3500 cubic feet of air per hour... i will show my ignorance and admit that I have no idea how much that is? Anyway would this be a good blower. Also we arent supposed to talk about politics but rest assured my political leanings do not lean the same way as the makers of this blower Link to ebay ad removed.
  19. Thanks for the info Frosty. It isnt my thread but there is still alot of useful information there that I didn't know!
  20. I may have missed it. So i do apologize if I did. But what kind of metal are you working with that you need a respirator? ie; galvanized?
