  1. Just the thought of shrinking those tires onto the 7 foot rims gives me the shivers.
  2. I noticed that but the Cop in me is always skeptical when doing detective work.
  3. Instead of ITC-100, I would use Plistix or metrikote. Good advice.
  4. We still don't know where in the world you are located, hence the suggestion in Read This First to edit your profile to include location. The worth of an anvil is directly dependent upon where it's located. BTW: It does appear to be in perfect condition.
  5. Das, I don't have a musicale bone in my body, however your guitars really sing to me. That goes for the critters too, I love em all.
  6. JHCC built a very good side blast forge, might want to take a look.
  7. Some pictures would help, your nearly perfect and someone else's may not agree. Beside that we love pictures as long as they are not too large. BTW welcome to IFI... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
  8. To be honest, I've been reading Charles's postings and my eyes saw Shills but my mind read Skills.
  9. My late FIL used to say three moves is as good as a fire.
  10. Seeing it's a handled round punch, I wouldn't worry about the orientation of the handle eye.
  11. I've also found old croquet mallets at yard sales for next to nothing and they work just fine.
  12. Welcome to IFI... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST You will undoubtedly need at least two burners. Not knowing where in the world you are located or what type of work you are planning it's hard to give you an answer. For ideas on how to redesign it you need to read through the Forges 101 sticky.
  13. I believe your Trenton may have been a Navy anvil at one time. I'm surprised that someone with a copy of AIA hasn't dated it yet. I found another thread that a Trenton ser# 217515 was dated to 1947-1948 so yours is earlier than that probably around 1945 or so. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/46237-trenton-anvil-looking-for-mfg-date/
  14. It's a great one to start out with and taken care of it will outlast you. I hope you have read about not grinding, milling or welding on the hardened face. Someone with a copy of AIA will undoubtedly be along to give you a date range. BTW... Welcome to IFI. Have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST it will help you get the best out of the forum.
  15. I can get my coal forge lit and be forging before my propane forge comes up to heat and shutting it down is just as quick. I have no problem with sparks or embers and the forge is about two feet from a combustible wall and the shop is in a heavily wooded area YMMV though. BTW... Welcome to IFI, We won't remember your location once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show it.
  16. It's hard to tell from the pictures, although it doesn't seem to run all the way through from the pictures of the opposite side & back. I would take a look at it in person, provided it didn't involve much more than a day trip or if I trusted my brother's opinion about it. OOPS... I just looked on a map and I guess a day trip is out of the question. What does the seller say about it?
  17. Ya done good especially if you are in some of the high end anvil price areas.
  18. Nope you haven't broken any rules and we try and make it easier for new folks to navigate the forum. BTW, mind saying what you had to give for that grand old lady?
  19. Welcome to IFI Edward... I always suggest reading this to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST Someone with a copy of AIA will be along shortly to give you a date range. Do you have any pictures of her? Hope you have read about not doing any grinding, milling or welding on the hardened face.
  20. Sad to say the warranty has expired. Hope you have read about not doing any grinding, milling or welding on the hardened face.
