  1. Hi Anthony that looks like a pretty special anvil shame you missed out.
  2. I think your right, just before that anvil this Kohlswa one sold for $299( 62lbs )and is a much better buy specially if your planning to use it .

  4. This anvil for sale at the moment don`t plan to buy it but wondered how rear it is with its church windows.Weighs 438lbs.
  5. This one went for a record price, this anvil just sold on ebay for $331.61 including post,Weight 7pounds length 8inches! Its not even a nice looking thing.?whats that about 47.50 a pound.
  6. Hi Joel those tongs look good might have to try them , I have made a few classic scroll tongs and have not really been that impressed with them. That`s a large scroll was it made on made on a jig or by hand?
  7. fantastic, kept going back to look at the photo.
  8. Hi Randy my latest anvil has worse damage to the lower sections from someone testing punches and chisels and anything else they could hit it with, it also has no marking and a H stamped on each front foot.I am sure mine is a PW one because the guy I bought it from had an identical one which was marked as a PW and secondly Richard postman says in his book Anvils in America "It is rare you cannot find part of the trademark on any Peter Wright anvil. However even without the trademark, should a wrought anvil have four handling holes and the flats across the front and back of the feet under the horn and heel, you can almost always be sure that it is a Peter Wright"
  9. That's a well designed hammer the face looks like it would be good for finishing and the large rounded peen will get plenty of use.Induction forge no noise no smoke but at 20 kva I probably couldn`t afford the power bill, although yours would be three phase I guess.
  10. looks like one of those geckos that change colour to suit its surroundings
  11. Very nice forged lizard just wondering what size stock you used for the main body would have been fairly heavy?
  12. Never seen that before, nice job
  13. you weren`t driving a Thunderbird were you Glen?
  14. Nice work, making the flatter that way save a lot of time and for guys who don`t have a power hammer save the shoulders and elbows
  15. Thanks for the comments, I would like to make a bigger one sometime when I get the right size tool steel but as far as selling the amount of time spent wouldn't match the price. If someone had a better equipped shop it could work.Biggundoc idea of making them is good just got to work out how maybe Ian got some mini stamps Imagine an anvil stamped 0-0-1.5
  16. Good job its great when someone comes along and needs something that can only be forged, wish it would happen to me.
  17. Hi Stephen in regards to the 1 3/4" bar if you stick with forging you will use it at some point. What size is your anvil`s hardy hole? I have a length of 1'"sq mild steel I use to weld onto some tools to fit the hardy hole, example.
  18. Good video you are lucky to work in such a nice shop, bet you know someone who can really play the fiddle for the music score of your videos!
  19. Large book 480 pages by Bernard Levine 2nd edition isbn 0-87349-042-8.great reference book on folding and fixed blade history design and makers.Don`t know if this old book is still published.
  20. Nice poem, like the line "Bid you wear her out" shows intent of serious forging.
  21. Bradford and kendall foundry started in the 1920s producing many items for heavy industry as well as anvils. I own two 112lb I bought in 1999 and 160lb I have had for around a year, both cast steel and petty good to work on.The 160 hardy hole and pritchel are not as well finished as the smaller anvil and this seems to the standard practice for some reason. Also the mounting holes if used really quieten the ring.
  22. Swedefiddle good advise from someone who sounds like they made plenty. When people first start forging, my self included, they often think making a set of tongs will be easy, it is easy but only after you have made plenty.
  23. Great work your pw in near perfect condition, how rare are the pw anvils with two hardy holes?
  24. Great score glad to see it went to someone who appreciate them, now all you need is this.
  25. Yeah pretty much did what you said and had to trim the length of the jaws to suit the stock size.
