  1. Make her something nice, russian roses are good, do one or a bunch and forge weld the stems together and leave three stems long for it to stand on. And pick up the other vise before it gets scraped.
  2. Ok, will see if I can track down the info on the threads.
  3. Yes, I was thinking more along the line of using a second lock nut on the shaft, exseive play will be taken out by the bearing at the other end, as per mormal. Only problem I can see is shaft turning in cone, dont want to have a wrecked shaft as well.
  4. Yeah, I need new cones (dont ask me how) -), I did find the thread info somewhere, cost here in Aus is prohibitive too, but a mate of mine is handy with a lathe. A fix for this would be nice. Possible to use un-threaded cone and lock-nut on the shaft nut? Your thoughts?
  5. Would it be worthwhile to get new cones and outer race turned?
  6. Take a wire wheel to it, then have a look mate.
  7. Is that gal pipe for the air?
  8. Shipping containers are great for building, allow for noose if working inside one. Built my house out of 4 x 40' high cube containers. Like Biggun said, can even put roof on an angle, with a couple of I beams.
  9. Design your shed to be extended to easily, build the shed first then the house, otherwise the driving force (wife) wont be on your back and more stuff will get done to house than the shed mate.
  10. Now THATS an anvil, get a wooden stump or post and recess the pin into it about 2" and get forging. Dont ever throw that pin out.
  11. Vaughn, its 3" thick and 12" diameter.
  12. Sanderson, thanks for taking the time to post all of this, it is really appreciated, certanly given me some homework to do.
  13. Nothing in the bellows section? Google goat skin bellows
  14. May not be so handy if its a cylinder mate, not saying it cant be done but there would be a bit more involved holding it down say for twisting, base wont be straight forward to use it on its edge.
  15. Mate if your going to cast an anvil please answer the most often asked question on here about anvils... By putting the YOM on it! Also give it a bit of style with church windows. Hope it goes well for you.
  16. Got some mates used to do it for a living. Can only visit them on saturday mornings now. Jokes
  17. Admin, This might make a good stickie in the Chimney/Flue section?
