  1. You may not take up blacksmithing Alexander, but one of your grandkids might, be a nice thing to give them.
  2. Add a bit of water to pack it down if you like.
  3. Plaster of Paris will cost a fortune, dirt, any dirt, will do a good job, trick is to use a drum (55gal) instead of the bucket mate.
  4. And some rivets and a nice little wheel to make a ring take that'd hold 15 tings at least.
  5. Take a buffer wheel on a grinder to the chip edges and forget about the sway. Use it and you will find the sway comes in handy.
  6. There's a whole section on heat treating here mate if you care to take the time to read it.
  7. Failing that, cut off as much of the tang that won't go back in and your good to go.
  8. Cover the ply wood and seat area with felt, stops the clack clack noise every time the valves operate.
  9. I reckon you could get it down to 2 1/4 x the width.
  10. Excuse the break, poor workmanship. 1" stock you would want a good monkey wrench on it I reckon.
  11. Had a crack at it, need to punch the bends out first, and don't twist it the wrong way mate -)
  12. Try lifting the curves (twisty bits) up so they are in a different plane to the arms, tap them back down when in place.
  13. When you tried it with clay did you twist all 4 "arms" 180deg?

  15. Look up Fredericks Cross, make the cuts go further past then normal then twist arms. At a guess.

  17. How about a front profile shot mate? The front profile needs to be smaller than the rear of it, also you want the edges well rounded mate.
  18. Can you post a pic of it mate? How does to measure up to your handles?
  19. The best thing you could do for yourself is to make the time to walk an hour each morning as hard and fast as you can, use your arms not just your legs. 6 weeks you will be in a lot better shape.
  20. Take a wire wheel to it mate, will help you see any markings.
  21. $100 cheap, $200-300 fair, $400 paying through the nose. IMO.
