Glenn and rockstar both make excellent points about naming and the business itself. I know they gave me some things to think about for sure.

Mine is Southern Metalworx. Along the same lines as Frosty, I started out welding and fabricating before I started learning blacksmithing so it's a general name. It isn't really a "business", more of a hobby as I don't normally make any money off it.

I picked up this 180lb Fisher a couple of weeks ago. Stamped 1922. It's in decent shape, save for the torch marks on the horn and the mounting lugs that have been cut off.

Gotcha.....thanks for the explanation. I will re-think this and discuss it with the customer. I know you deal with a lot of crap and stupid people moderating this board but maybe you should take a vacation if you're going to be so grumpy and snide. Have a beverage and get some rest and quiet. I'm accepting of your input. You made points that I hadn't thought about. I will bring these to the attention of the customer. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

There will definitely be a grommet where the cord passes through. There is no connection to the fixture itself. The base will hang on the wall and the cord simply passes through and hangs through the loop. I assume when ya'll mention an "earth bolt" you're referring to a ground? I can't see how that would be needed since there is no electrical inside the base. Please explain.

My wife's co-worker asked me about making some light fixtures for his cabin. He showed me a picture of the idea he had and it was a little more industrial than rustic, I thought, so I put my own spin on it. This is just a sample and is just bare steel. The finished product will have the base treated to a solution to make it rust and then clear coated. The twisted square bar will stay as is. Base is 10g sheet that I folded and welded the corners. The bar is 1/2" square that I upset, flattened and punched the end. The last picture is the example he showed me. You can see how the light will hang.

Prayers going up for you, buddy. Hang in there. I've been through some rough stuff over the past year or so myself. It's getting better, just have to stay positive and do your best to not let it take a toll on your family.

Nice work on the tongs, Mike. I haven't tried my hand at any since my wife bought me a set from Quick & Dirty for Christmas last year.

Please understand that we have a lot of people come to see the park and mosey on over to just stand around. Did you introduce yourself? Make a point to talk to anyone there? Ask for Jim Hestle, he's the forge master. Come, bring your hammer, a chair, notepad, lunch and open your eyes and ears and don't be a stranger. They really are a great group.

Very nice, Mike. I thought about building a gas forge too but it hasn't made it to #1 on the "to do" list yet. What size MIG tip do you need? I have some .035 and .030.
