  1. I enjoyed the videos....thanks for posting.
  2. Haven't tried Non stabilized. Ever since I built my stabilizing unit I haven't looked back! Thanks for the compliments!
  3. Temper that blade please! Right from quench it is brittle and dangerous. Read HT stickies as this is very important for safety...1045 may not be the best choice for edge retention but it will certainly be tough. If reading doesn't help you here, send me a PM and I'll talk you through it. Getting hurt from a poorly Heat Treated blade can end real ugly....You're off to a great start.
  4. Did you pour the pewter into the bone?
  5. Read Heat Treat stickies and pick from there....Any further questions if that doesn't get you there, check Knife making lessons in forum as well. Very helpful and well written stuff. Keep at it! Loads of fun to be had yet!!
  6. You may try hidden pins with Neodymium magnets embedded into the scales. The scales will pop off to light fire and quickly re-attach. The hidden pins will hold scales in place. Just a thought. Pictures of finished project are a must...we love pics.

  10. Must be the pic Theo. I am not a big fan of a clip point. Thanks for the compliments guys.
  11. 5160 Blade, Nickel Silver guard with black on white and Nickel Silver spacers. Stabilized Cocobolo handle. Sorry about the pic....It left before i could get good pics
  12. There's a pile of cool stuff there....Nice work
  13. Nice looking piece. Did you split that handle then re-glue?
  14. The Coote attached to an old Rockwell beaver table saw. this was during build and now has proper guards in place to protect motor and circuitry.
  15. Hefty looking chopper! I like the shape.
  16. Rubber knife known up this way as "Fast Shoe Knife". If you pull it on someone you'd better have fast shoes.....Nice forging on the other "shoe" by the way!
  17. Biggest thing to remember here is....The blank page question... In that I mean those who do will receive more help and attention than those that are simply here to be spoonfed. If I never applied any of what I've learned from these lessons and write ups in my shop my work would not have progressed and the help and tips I'm sure would soon stop. Such has not been the case for me....I applied what I learned here and asked for help when I failed, or wanted to get to that NEXT level. The work that these gents have put into these forums is overwhelming! Kudos to all that input....and also to those to those that use it. Let's not let a few attention seekers ruin any of it for any of us!. My work owes a lot to this site and the ones who contribute. Thanks again to all of you!
  18. I like that. As above....love to see it all done up!
  19. Bang up! That's not a first attempt it's a first success! Nice work, keep it coming for sure!
