How much is fair for 2nd hand anvil?

1 Aus $ = .88 US$ so I'd agree on the pricey part.....But if there are no anvils around he likely will get what he's asking. Sad but true. -

On monosteel blades I forge the bevels in as well. On a pattern weld I usually forge to shape if I can without distorting pattern too much and then grind bevels. Does this make sense?

When I use a file for forging I anneal then grind teeth off before forging. This may help eliminate stress risers as well. 1/8" spine width is not too thin IMHO. Make for a good slicer. Darren
