  1. Just enough to serve the intended purpose. Nicely executed.
  2. I'd say, you bounced off that wall quite well. That is a handsome array of cutlery. Thanks for the pics and keep'em coming.
  3. It's pretty much a matter of distance. If it's hitting at the base of the handle, back up about a half a step, so it can rotate to the point of the blade hitting the target. If the top of the hawk hits the target, step a little closer. Adjust your distance so the hawk makes one revolution(or more depending on distance thrown). Get the distance right and it will stick every time.
  4. You done a good job. Now, try throwing and sticking it. My son and I used to have a lot of fun throwing hawks we made. Of course, that was before he discovered the fairer sex. ;)
  5. I'm one of those folks, that reads the forum everyday, but rarely post. Anyhow, here are a few little knives I enjoy making. They are all W1 and whitetail antler. Comments welcome of course.

I love stories with happy endings!
  7. Where in Georgia, are you located?
  8. Thanks for the update. I'm glad it was a good one. You and your family are still in my prayers. Keep looking, UP.
  9. You and your family are in our prayers.
  10. I've had some pretty bad back pain for the last two years. I finally went to the doctor about it, since it has gotten unbearable. I went for an MRI yesterday. The doctor called this morning to tell me, I have some ruptured disc. He said he will set up an appointment with a surgeon for next week. Has any one experienced this. If so, what can I expect as in recovery time? Is it reasonable to expect 100% recovery, or will there be limitations?
  11. It's 92 degrees and 66% humidity in NE Georgia. As much as I enjoy my time at the anvil, I think I'll pass for now. Those areas of the country, that have single digit humidity, sound like a very nice place to be.

    Kids

I went out after supper to enjoy a little ME time at the anvil. As soon as the forge got going and I began forging, four of the neighbor's kids showed up in the backyard with my own. One of the young chaps about 9yrs. old asked, if he could make something. I told him that I would help him make a hook. Of course, then, everybody had to make a hook. My project never got done. But, the look on those four faces when they were done was, well.....priceless. They were very proud of their hooks, to say the least.
  13. Hard Luck Forge.........Self explanatory.
  14. I like them both. Nice clean work. You did a good job on the sheaths, also.
  15. Beautiful package. Too pretty to use.
  16. I like 1040 or 1060. I have made hawks from RR spikes, ball peen hammers, pry bars, axles, and of course new stock. I have enjoyed good results from all I have mentioned. Forge'em and thow'em. Big fun.
  17. I'd say, if that's rubbish, it's rather top end rubbish. That's a beauty from one end to the other. I like the low count stuff myself.
  18. I like the knife. You can keep the white stuff. But, keep the pics coming.
  19. That handle keeps me coming back for another look.
  20. The tang is epoxied in the handle. All my blades end up with an as forged finish, unless someone ask for a shiny one. I like making knives, but, that is about as fancy as I get.
  21. Nice blades. I like making those style knives. Is that a TFS anvil?
