I took around an inch and bent it 90° then hammered it back into the bar and rounded it out. That gives the bulk for the back of the skull. Jim86
Yeah ok, thanks. Haven't done much in the way of skulls, but i saw in one of your other posts a few you have done and they looked great.
Daswulf
There are some good tutorials on YT.

Jim86
Nice Irondragon, should turn out real well. You going to weld them?
BillyBones
Love the hummingbird. Give her a thumbs up. I like the idea of cattails, not something you see in a lot of bouquets. By the time Steve gets this put together there is going to be so much steel they will need a fork lift to move it.
Jim86
Thought i'd give this challenge another go, had a piece sitting on the bench anyway and had an idea after making a few candle holders, this one just holds the little tea light ones. BillyBones
That is really cool and i have decided i will steal this idea from you.

Shainarue
I love that! It's almost like a little creature, lol - super cute.
LarryFahnoe
Really a delightful candle holder Jim! Minimalist yet very "live" and expressive. Well done sir. --Larry
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Very nice candle holder, sure beats my cattail. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
arkie
Elegant candle holder...well done!
gewoon ik
Nice done. Will also take your idea and modify it to suit my taste, but the basic idea will be yours. Nice piece. Fergot about this challange btw.
Jim86
Thanks for all your replies, took a bit to get right in the end ( too much work to hold one candle? Possibly!) But fun practice anyway.
Frosty
I haven't been checking the forum much recently so I'm way behind on this thread. I really like it Jim, there's a huge amount of marketable potential in the idea! I vote you the winner of the best idea for the end of 2023. I'm envisioning so many variations I don't know where to start! Okay, here's a sillier idea, how about an octopus doing a hand stand? Ooh ooh, shape the legs to suggest walking, paint them black and white and have them carrying hors' devores dishes on the table at parties. Tea lite and candle holders are arguing in my head for who gets to be written about first! I think I'll go have an eggnog and see what else happens on this thread. Thank you for a wonderful idea Jim. Jim86
Thanks Frosty! Thats a big call as there is some seriously cool stuff on ifi! But i'll take it! I though it a pretty interesting challenge of just how much metal i could move and keep it one piece as i usually cut and or weld otherwise. You ideas are interesting and i would like to see them, ( all of them, you have to do all of them;) Keep a lookout, i might do an extravagant one in the future. Have a good new years everyone. Jim. BillyBones
Instead of octopus how about an Appalachian Mud Squid?
