So I found a large squirrel cage fan at work.... But it might be a bit big to serve as a blower. What do y'all think?

Naw you can use it, just divert most of the air.  I'm sure the neighbors would love you. 

It could be used to run multiple forges all at the same time.

Good blower if you don't like your neighbors then. 

I'd raise that door before you decide to try running it !!

A 2 1/2” mainline in fog in front of that beast would nock down most brush fires. The Canadians have system of fans and misters to fog fuel in suppressing wild land fires

That would be interesting. The county fire guys use this one as a ventilation fan. They use that ply wood door on the side of the trailer to hook it directly into a building then pressurize the whole building to clear smoke. Pretty sure there would be nothing left standing of my shop if i were to try to crank that thing up.

Not multiple forges...

I think that could run EVERY forge!!! 

That little thing?  The Moffat tunnel made to take coal trains under the Rockies in the 1920's had a blower with a motor you could WALK through!

That thing looks like it was made for de-smoking buildings or ventilating low oxygen spaces.  But like the others said, if you use this for a forge, neighbor relationships are going to suffer badly.

Being the curious kind, what is that blower used for?
