October 16, 20169 yr Here is my first attempt at making a hawk from a ball peen hammer. I made it for a friend and now I have to make one for myself.
October 16, 20169 yr Excellent work. Especially for a first. Very clean lines. Well done. Isn't that how it goes, someone wants one, you make it for them then you want one. haha
November 14, 20169 yr That is beautiful! Job very well done. I'd say, sorry friend, this ones mine. Viking
November 15, 20169 yr Isn't that a classic. In olden times they bragged of forging weapons into tools. We forge tools into weapons ... haha.
November 15, 20169 yr Well the Bible has *2* places where they forge tools into weapons and only *1* where they forge weapons into tools. I was once talking with my pastor and telling him I was considering calling my smithy the "anti biblical forge" as I was forging a lot of farm scrap into blades at that time. He called me on it and dug out the concordance and showed me the 3 sections, 2 ag to weapon and only 1 weapon to ag. I would love to have some more cites about this in olden times if you have any to hand.
February 8, 20179 yr I have to say, that is a beautiful axe. Further, if you don't have the tools to drift an eye or are not very experienced with forge welding or other advanced techniques then using a hammer seems even more ideal for learning how to make an axe.
May 22, 20179 yr Sorry friend but the first one didn't come out quite right, I will have to try again on yours.
