Geoff Keyes
http://video.pbs.org/video/2365021516/ This is really cool. Now if Roy would just shut up Geoff
Rashelle
I really enjoy those videos. Did you watch the video in preparation for the lock making at the hammer in tomorrow?
Nick
I love Roy, he's like a very talented bull in a china shop. The two of them together are great. Fun and educational!
njanvilman
Peter Ross is the man. Minimal motion, no wasted blows. If you ever get to watch him demo, go. Even after watching him work, you will wonder how he did what you just saw him do.
John McPherson
The NCABANA meeting on Nov. 15 is at his shop again. Always a treat to see the economy of motion when he works.
VaughnT
I really need to make one of those crab style locks. That would be perfect for the shop door! Great to see how "easy" it is to forge the components to rough shape. Lots of little things that I wouldn't have thought of.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
Man, I remember when Roy was young.......wait a minute, that would make me?!? Wish I could download the video and watch it later.
DanielC
Didnt know he lived in NC John. I may have to make it to that one and bring him a gift from the bloom pile!
Pault17
john and Daniel, are you both going to make it to the November meeting? I would love to meet other IFIers.
John McPherson
Plan to be there if the Creek don't rise, I had to miss the September and Brasstown meetings. I sent Daniel the addy, and will be bringing the cases of books to check out as NCABANA Librarian. I am trying to drag along a few of my school club students as well. SmoothBore
Man, I remember when Roy was young....... Yeah, ... me too. I met him on a visit to Williamsburg, ... around 1985. Just as entertaining and personable "in-the-flesh", as he is on the "tube". .
Bad Creek Blacksmith
Would like to see him demo without Roy around. Interesting video but couldn't watch all of it, I know Roy is trying not to have any dead air time but enough is enough.
Frosty
Would like to see him demo without Roy around. Interesting video but couldn't watch all of it, I know Roy is trying not to have any dead air time but enough is enough. While I feel the same the fact is it's Roy's show so he must keep up the patter. Now if PBS could talk Peter into a blacksmithing show. <wistful sigh> Frosty The Lucky. Bad Creek Blacksmith
I always thought a blacksmithing show would be great, PBS needs to do some thing.
Francis Trez Cole
the University of Georgia in conjunction with PBS did one it ran on RFD TV a few years ago http://www.anvilfire.com/bookrev/index.php?bodyName=forge_anvil/book_review.htm&titleName=Forge%20and%20Anvil%20by%20Alan%20Rogers
John McPherson
That one ran about 20 years ago, and was available on VHS with a companion book. There was another show that ran on RFD-TV on the dish a decade ago.
KYBOY
I have that episode of woodwrights shop saved on my DVR..All of the blacksmith related episodes actually..Peter Ross is an amazing smith..One of the very best for sure..
Randy Bill
For those interested, Roy has a several excellent texts. I never come away from Roy without learning something more than woodworking. "The Woodwright's Workbook", 1986, Chapel Hill, has a chapter on the reconstruction of Anderson's Forge at Williamsburg. It's about much more than Anderson's Forge; If you're not moved by the chapter see your doctor.
