  9. Ok-- Now first off most custom made forge's are built to do what you Need ! LOL - So first thing is you need to have is an Idea of What you want to heat ? PS-- castable top piece -- brick or castable bottom piece I don't want to watch Kwool get bet up cost to much here
  13. I am working on a design for a wall sconce elec candle, witch will have an elec light in the candle Now my ? is, can anyone out there point me to a supplier of fake candle's ?? IE -- there some kind of plastic tube form, that looks like a real wax candle that you can put over a small elec bulb, this candle piece then give's you the effect of a burning candle with out the fire problem Or does anyone know how to make such a thing ?? or something I haven't thought of yet ?? that would work - A real lighted candle is a NO GO cause of kids & possible fire danger I have seen these in store's elsewhere but I don't know what there called to run a search for ? Thanks Steve
  14. Howdy Hunter so where in Or are you ? there mite be a few blacksmiths in you're area that you could go see for any help :<) I am in northern Ca ,the Real northern Ca - Not the central northern Ca lol
  15. I would say No !! its not worth $200-- in that shape ! -- Even Free thats alot of repair welding & grinding to get it back to where its usable again you will need an arc welder the right rods ,away to heat anvil to 350 degs or so , a lg grinder and so on :<( I have repaird 50 + anvils over the years that one would be a good $400.-- ++ to repair right ,there are better anvils out there keep looking Now that being said if youre a welder and its free LOL Yes it can be fixed

  17. Makes you think of Where & How you store you're full AC tanks in the shop ? Hmm and How often you soap test the valve on the newly filled tank you just got from supplier to make sure theirs no leaks ???? HMM how OFTEN again -- mine are in the bathroom next to the air compressor in next sealed room an over night leak would not be good thing the compressor is the first thing to get turn on in the morning I think AC tanks are on there way outside for storage now ! its not as convenient they will have to be in the way back area so no one can steal or mess with them PS--yes I do soap test my tanks - valves - hoses often & have found leaky AC valves before -- T handle valves are the worst for that it seams
  18. ? are you Tig or Mig welding these pieces -- metal MUST be clean ! -- if you,re Tig welding use a gas de-fusser collet set up Ti doesn't like a fast cool down @ the end of the bead so come off welded heat slowly when tig welding -- weld bead colors Ti has some of the most deep bright weld bead colors Ive ever seen !! when things are going right you get a Gold color -- next down seams to be sliver -- NOW there's other colors you can get bright reds--blues--purples + now these colors MEAN something !!! to much power or torch angle off - Ar gas problem - welding to fast or to slow - rod feed not right - so on ????? I have Tig welded allot of Ti years back -- AND have YET to find someone that knew what the colors MEAN I sure would like to know that still !! anyway when it welds right looks right -- a good Gold colors seams to be what you're shooting for I hope this helps some & if anyone out there know anything about the colors of Ti welding Idd like to here about it ! its a fun metal to weld - though it likes to crack @ the end of the bead so keep a little heat on the end & back up the weld bead some then come off of it GOOD LUCK Steves Welding

  22. Here,s a fast trick for fingering anvil height you need - I use a auto floor jack set anvil on it now adjust to a comfortable working height for the person that is @ the anvil the most ! -- what you're looking for is a comfortable hammer swing AND the hammer hits the anvil Sq flat & level :<) then measure height & make stand BE Carefull !! cause anvil is not tied down to floor jack !!!
