I don't know about your guy's areas but I live just outside of an urban jungle so to get anvils is a ton of work looking, calling and driving not to mention they are heavy. I get it if you live in the sticks and all your neighbors have barns and one out of every 10 has an old anvil but not by me. I only say this because when I sell an anvil and someone complains about the price I tell the people to do the work i do to get it then talk. -

Yeah I got a friend who is going to go over it but figured its easier for him to just adjust one to cover the specific area and requirments then have to write one from scratch -
Would anyone have a template they would be willing to share?

Nice setup! I have found at least in my shop an engine hoist is enough to handle moving most stuff around plus it can be collapsed and loaded up in my truck if i need to pick something up

Pricing anvil ?
Timber Ridge Forge replied to JustNick's topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
The general thought is anvils today are based on these factors weight, condition, maker, and location. The truth is some people like to say 3-6 dollars a pound but that doesn't really hold true I normally say an anvil is what someone will pay for it so if you decide to sell see what that maker recently has sold for and that weight set a price higher then you are willing to sell it for and worse case you can lower the price. -
I was going to check out this anvil tomorrow not sure on a maker I am assuming just a cast knock off but tell me if I am wrong? he said its 70lbs

Check local and state laws. The fact is people can sue no matter what is signed but your county clerks office should be able to help.

anvil repair costs?
Timber Ridge Forge replied to Timber Ridge Forge's topic in Repairing and Modification to Anvils
Yeah if I end up not selling it I may see if they would be willing to do the welding and I can grind to save some time and money -
anvil repair costs?
Timber Ridge Forge replied to Timber Ridge Forge's topic in Repairing and Modification to Anvils
Thanks, guys I appreciate it. I had no idea it was 20 hours of work I am sure that would put it out of the cost vs benefit range but I may have found a home for it a guy who owns a body shop wants it and I assume he can do all the repairs to so I am going to just move it along to the next guy. -
