  2. I have that same bit and was thinking of using it to make an ax drift
  3. Mild steel. Was a cut off from a beam plate
  4. I haven't weighed it yet. I'm guessing 14-24 oz. still have to round the face and dress. Thank you
  5. Started on my 2nd hammer sat morning. Going to be a dishing hammer when finished. Next hammer will be square cause punching round stock can be a pain!

  8. Looks like he Wields it just fine. Dosent even sound winded.
  9. That was my thoughts too the square will be the shoulder. Think I should tapper the round a bit? Just to aid removal when hot setting new hardies
  10. Frosty i been using the post vice as a hardy and it works great. Loving this setup. I'm planing a swage block with the weight in the pic and may put a hardy in that since it's half way there already.
  11. The video is me pounding on the weight. I think it is steel and wanted a 2nd opinion. Pic is in the OP. I'll try to upload to utube and edit the post. My phone is my only Internet
  12. Fixed it I think IMG_1916.MOV quick time video
  13. Thinking of making this a swage block. My aso is chained down very tight. What do you think? I think it will make a great swage block either way. Just courious dents easy with heavy blows. I have 5 of these weights video won't load 404 link removed
  14. I would do your step downs over a more radiused edge. Looks like a smal fold or crack between jaws and boss.
  15. Tagging along. I've made one small hammer sofar. Used it to pound out this SS shop ladle. Plans for many more. Ps grain does not go side to side this are saw tracks
  16. It's nice to have friends that turn wrenches. Atleast a 120lbs if not more. School buss leaf spring and a Chevy tow hitch followed me home
  17. Picked these up today. Free grinder turns nice and smooth
  18. Got these and about 20' of rail for them. Should be great for my future shop
  19. Well I was inspired by this thread. Un bolted my rail and flipped it up on end. Cut out a small horn, made the web in to a fuller. I'm loving it. Much better than before!!! Haven't decided what to do with the other edge. May go with a hot cut tho idk if I like having a permenant sharp spot on the anvil. My post vise holds my hot cut just fine so I my go with a slightly sharper fuller.
