  1. Bahaha! ( I tried and tried and tried to talk him into letting me load that junk on a trailer and sending the whole shooting match home with him so y’all wouldn’t have to do that!) Howdy Thom! Glad to hear from you again! Although I wish it was under different circumstances, it’s great that he has a strong support system there in Albuquerque! Hows the firewood pile looking? Do they have plenty to get through the winter?
  2. Howdy from eastern Oklahoma and welcome to the forum! happy thanksgiving to you too! I agree with Steve I wouldn’t bother with any repairs on that dude, it’s not really in the bad of shape, you can make a hardy for anything you need a sharp edge on, As far as history goes, that looks like a Vulcan anvil to me, if so it’s American made cast iron base with a tool steel top, anvil history can be found in the book called (Anvils in America) by Richard Postman
  3. I wonder if it was a bunker air supply Like the civil defense bomb shelter blowers? that intake and exhaust kinda look like it was setup for duct work or something to me, that’s an awesome find!
  4. Lol if I recall correctly when he stopped in here at my shop he was wearing a red floppy hat with deer antlers sticking out of it, he said he wore it for protection! because it was only a 2-4 pointer or something like that, he said no one wants to shoot a deer that only has that many points lol
  5. I can’t really play one all that well but I got one of those buried on my shop desk somewhere!
  6. If ya ever see him in person you’ll definitely recognize him by that floppy hat with deer antlers sticking out the top!
  7. Howdy everyone, I just got off the phone with Thomas a minute ago, he told me to tell everyone that the rumor of an estate sale is untrue so don’t be snoopin round his stuff!! He said they are weaning him off some of the drugs, they are feeding him but it’s 50/50 on weather it’s actually edible or not, Jerry, he told me to tell you that he doesn’t approve of your method of time off work to everyone else he said he will be back online as soon as he gets home and is able, I called the hospital a couple days ago for the mailing address and the receptionist didn’t even know he was there, so don’t bother with those people, any mail y’all want to send him, send to his home address, his wife is bouncing back an forth between the house an hospital so he can receive it that way, over all he sounded in good spirits! he gave me a verbal lesson on gold extraction on patios that confused me! so I think he’s gonna be okay! Bahahaha! I’ll keep y’all posted with any further news!
  8. Lemme know if ya do! You’re welcome here at my shop anytime! im a strictler about welding rod ends being picked up around here, they have a nasty habit of finding their way into tires and causing a lot more headache for me, Billy, it was like that an base in the Navy too, but on ship you were only allowed to smoke in designated areas because of fire hazard, if you got caught smoking anywhere else it wasn’t pretty! Lol
  9. X2 Randy, im lazy I use a map fuel benzomatic about a 5 second blast while slowly turning the blower an it’s up an goin
  10. I’ve got a lot of forge parts and parts forges but I ain’t got anything for a an down draft rigs, I’ll keep my eye out here locally though for you, if I come across any parts I’ll let ya know,
  11. I don’t smoke in other people’s shops, houses or properties out of respect for them an their property i also don’t treat visitors to my shop rudely because they don’t know any better about something, I can convey a message without getting all bent out of shape about it just as easily, and still have a paying customer when I’m done that will return an spend more money later, I’ve never had a customer leave cause they don’t like the way my shop floor looks or anything else for that matter considering the fact that I can clean it all up an after one machine have mud, oil, grease and lord knows what else all across the shop floor it’s pretty messy, the buts are the least of what’s laying on the floor at the end of the day Customers still come, still bring machinery, an still pay, and that’s really all that matters to me i stay friendly and respectful with just about everyone I’ve ever met, but in the rare case that anyone don’t like me, my prices, my repair times or the way I do things in my shop, they are not being forced to come here an do business, they are more than welcome to drive out of the county or across state lines and find a shop floor and or mechanic or prices an times that suits their personal preferences better, I’ll just stay here an keep doin what I’m doin an making money doin it!
  12. gewoon ik i promise I’ll sweep the floor before you get here if you ever come for a visit, I might even straighten up a little!
  13. Howdy! I was an east coast BM3 I was in from 06-10 imma plank owner on USS Mesa Verde an did a little stint on the USS Nassau
  14. New hold down looks good to me Shaina! no smithing here today but I did start getting the shop ready for santy! Lol ash had me climb up in the loft to hunt down a little table top tree she bought 10 years ago and ain’t seen since so she could take it to work, while I was up there digging through cobwebs and dust looking for her mini tree I found this one too, not sure where it came from or how long it’s been up there but I brought it down, blew it out with the air compressor and set it on one of my shop tables, makes the shop look purty!
  15. That’s Awesome! Bahaha! I wish I knew how to do something like that! I’d make a us all Christmas pirates! Max involved his self in my 2022 Christmas card decision making so everyone is gonna get the ones he picked out instead of my idea! A small business up in Ohio designed an printed them, hope everyone likes em!
  16. Not really part of the challenge but some pre Christmas mischief! so I was cruising online looking for the perfect Christmas cards to send out here in a few weeks and I came across this ridiculous tacky shower curtain, so I did what any unreasonable person would do…. I ordered it! Bahahaha! I can’t wait till that silly thing gets here, imma wait till ash is Gone to work an max is at daycare and I’m totally gonna swap out her fancy shower curtain! I’m usually still working out in the shop when she gets home so I’ll just let her walk in the bathroom an find it!
  17. I use a fluke multi meter cause we had those in the navy, mine don’t have an amp setting but it’s a good tool, they make em with amp settings and they also make amp clamp multi meters that do everything,
  18. Yeah anything that’s left undisturbed for a length of time has a pretty good chance that the black widows and or fiddle backs (brown recluse) are all up in it, i kill hundreds of each every year, I don’t know how many times I’ve lifted up a machine on the hoist here in the shop an found black widows up in it, and the stinkin fiddle backs get all up in my desk, tool boxes, parts boxes ect… The rattles snakes stay up on the back of walkin stick mountain bout a mile back from the house, cotton mouth’s usually stay down on peavine creek across the field, copperheads are around but I let the ol black snakes run wild and that keeps them thinned out so our only real issue here is the two spiders an the occasional scorpion, During the summer I let the wasps an mud daubers have free run of the shop to help keep the spiders down, I hate fiddle backs, those sorry suckers have got me three times over the years, winter time they all move slow so that’s the best time to clean the shop out an vaporize them with the ol benzomatic! Lol scott, you could name your smithy Queen Ann’s smithy!
  19. More like barbed wire! Okay not that bad… some of it is that high end vintage cloth covered stuff from before they banned it, the mouses have figured out it makes for great nesting material but not to touch two of the bare wires at the same time! I got a story about a cat in the loft an some of the wonderful wiring up there I’ll have to tell you an debi next time I see y’all at a hammer in!
  20. Steve If ya ever come to visit my shop in the great metropolis of Peavine America make sure to take your heart medicine before you look at the wiring in this old building!
  21. Oh boy! yer gonna have a few years before you fill up that shop! bad thing is when your overflowing there your gonna need to find an abandoned Wally World super center! Lol Im curious, what’s your plans for the second story catwalk on the end of the building?
  22. Its the prespetyrian hospital there in Albuquerque he told me but I can’t remember what room number, I was kinda shocked at the conversation an forgot to write everything down I’ll let you know when I call him back im not sure if his local guild knows yet, I met some of his students when they all stopped in at my shop in September but I don’t have any of their phone numbers, I think some of his local friends are IFI members so hopefully they see this thread an can spread the word there if they don’t know already know,
