  1. Another nice batch Aus. My brother asked me for something a little more "manly" for his hunting room. I'm thinking I might attempt to make some antlers on one of these. Not sure if there is enough material there but I'll be giving it a try soon.
  2. Yeah ours is off the good old inch so you are using about .035 wire.
  3. Lol it's ok, I read "blacksmith". We all get off exacts at times. No worries.
  4. But as big a one as you can. Mine is 110v and less then I need. It will struggle with 3/16" but thin stuff it will cut like butter. I'm thinking a more heavy duty cutter may be in the cards. I use .023 wire on most all I do. Works on body work and sculpture so far. I build up on larger stuff. But once I start making large sculptures I'd like to run a heavier duty welder with .030 or .035. Or finally justify the tig.
  5. Ugh! One of the "fell into a pile of unforgivable things" stories. I have several of those. Prayers for you and your back Robert Well I realized I never posted mine the wood stand is due for a new stand I'm thinking a 3 leg stand, but this is what I got and what I work on.
  6. But clutter is fun. It's like trying to find Waldo.
  7. Yup, I've always used MIG. I have a tig but I need to practice with it. Everytime I start on a project tho I go right to the MIG.

    Great work on this guy!
  9. No worries Aus. Here are some closer pictures of the wings, claw and face.
  10. Great looking first project. And congrats with setting him up on the blacksmithing path.
  11. It was good fun Jimmy, any time! Looks like you did some good finish work on the punch! Just make sure the struck end is flat and even as possible. I guess we will be forging a hammer head next.
  12. Thanks Aus, Jimmy, Frosty. Aus, the antenna seemed right to me for it. They could be a tad long. They were car antenna cut in half. The wings are made from a sheet of stainless that was scalloped in a way. Basically had bends in it that flared out from the center. I cut out the shapes with my plasma cutter and the larger four wings I bent some round bar for a brace. I used your idea of a sickle bar blade for the base shape of the head art inspires art as life inspires art. Feel free. I'll try to get a better picture of the wings later. Frosty, I don't know what's next. Someone suggested mothra.
  13. HAHA Thomas Thats a great thought!
  14. I guess it depends on the music Thomas lol
  15. Preying mantis. Been working on him all week with many distractions inbetween. He is in fight mode. Sorry. Had to toy with him battling Trimontasaurus like an old Godzilla movie.
  16. If you forge using coal, coke, or charcoal, the bed would make a good fuel storage bin. I'm actually planning on doing that.
  17. hello, glad you came out of the shadows. And good luck in your search.
  18. I've seen what you did with the handle done before and personally I like it. The pein marks going down the blade flow with the handle a bit. Looks good in my opinion.
  19. I like that you attached it be curling the tip into a hinge point. Simple and effective.
  20. That is great Ibor. Nice way to use smaller pieces.
  21. Nice, I hope you have thoroughly tested it.
  22. Hmm. Make another one to look like the statue "the thinker" and call it "Stumped"
