  1. Glad it helps Tommy. Those tips are free to share as they were freely shared with me.
  2. Thanks Vaughn. There are some of those around here. I'll check them out.
  3. The other rotor is just an inch deeper. I'll sometimes swap it in for working thicker stock.
  4. I use a brake rotor myself. The one I'm using is 2" deep and 8" inner diameter. It has served me well and is still going strong. I like the ones that were rear rotors with the inner being basically a drum for the parking brake. It dosnt have to be that tho. It just seems the wall goes all the way up on them without the fluting on the disc part going through to the fire pot. Tho either should work fine. I'm working with helping a friend build one atm, and will be using one where the fluting does go through.
  5. Rockstar, since I first say this I was thinking of a couple things for smaller stock. They seemed a little silly at first but hey, let's throw some ideas out there. For small stock, whatever size one you can find, I have a drill bit extension that would fit up to 3/16 stock with two set screws in the head. It is 13" long so that would give you a bit of a handle. Larger ones may be found. I picked mine up at a flea market, I'd think they would've available somewhere. Larger sizes may be available too. Another idea that struck me from that one is to thread a rod to hold a drill chuck. Lock it in and go. Different sizes available there too. Just some ideas. Never know.
  6. Welcome, and sincerely Thank you, and all other service members I may not have yet, for your service. Enjoy all the info that this site is packed full of, ( I know it has helped me improve a thousand fold). Please share your journey with us. ( we love pictures)
  7. Awesome job Hoenirson! I'm really glad to see you making progress on making it work. And getting the family involved. Your plans sound good. Keep it up and looking forward to seeing more progress.

  9. That's a nice design. The scrolls look good and even too.
  10. Good job for a first. And even more satisfying that you used it and it worked. Look forward to seeing more.
  11. I love it. Nice work. Now ya gatta make another since book ends come in pairs.
  12. That's rough Robert. Gopher hole thing was pretty funny but afterwards...ugh. I live at the bottom of a hill and things can get bad when it rains enough. While my shop is fine, my house is the target. I have slowly been working at fixing drainage issues.
  13. Glenn, Thanks for the info. Millhand, Nice haul. I have to say I'm a little jealous of that swage block! I'd love to have one like that.
  14. As fresh as coal can be. Fresh off the pile
  15. seems like that would work better in my pagan days.
  16. Thanks John. That's my favorite so far too. Being an Eagle Scout I guess it just has more meaning and it turned out the best I think. They feel good in the hand Bubba.
