  8. The top doesn't need to be level, just the part under the anvil. I took a 4" grinder and ground my stump and just worked on the high spots that my anvil actually hit. Worked for me and my wife can't hear my peter wright from the house any more. Ed

  17. Looks great and like a lot of work too. I have a craftsman 6" that I am in the same process with, except I am learning how it works and how it goes together, ect. Have fun.
  18. In the book Forging History,s Patterns they say to cut the rod on the about 1 1/4 in and off center so that you leave about 2/3 on one side of the cut. Bend the 2/3 side down and forge to shape. I have tried it but I need to learn more before I try something like that.
  19. How do I let you know I want to come and how do I get there?
  20. My neighbor found out that I had a problem with it and he cranked up the old welder and I think It will hold this time. It does not get a lot of stress, but then that is what I thought last time. Thanks guys. Glad to know to preheat. just in case.
  21. I tried to weld some 1" square to the bottom of a rail, to make a hardy hole. I ran 3 passes on each side and as I was running the last pass I heard a PING. A little later I saw a crack down the side of my weld on the other side. after about 1 hr. work using a hot cut and bottom fuller it fell off. The welds popped out of the rail leaving a app. 1/16 grove where my weld was. I don't have a camera so I can't show pics. Can I do this with my welder? I have a 110 stick welder and used 6011 rods, what I had. If so what did I do wrong? Thanks, Flemish
  22. My wife and I are praying for you and your girls, Praying for you and your wife's peace and the little ones health and growth spurt.
  23. Dave thanks for the video, I just finished a burner with specs from it. I could not get it to fire at all, I moved the flair in and out and the tip in and out. I finally put my hand around the air intake and blocked off the first row of holes and it fired right up and burned a pretty blue, I removed my hand and it immediately went out. I came back in and looked at your video to check that the .025 mig tip was right, and even though it was I changed it to .035 and it fires right up. I sure thought I followed your video to the letter but... If you have any ideas I would love to know, thanks again, Flemish
