the phnumatic jack hammers i;ve used discharged the air out the bottom so i don't think that would work, but maybe a electric one might, but there will be a problem with bit retention i would think becauce of not having the hammer weight on it, but that is just my thoughts, becarful, jimmy
great job. i have some leafspring as well that needs to be heated and beat into submission.have never tried hidden pins so that will be on the to do list. thanks, jimmy
welders here that weld on well heads string in mild- 6010 i think then tie in w/ 7018 clean up inbetween and then cap w/ 7018 to temper the weld- but they don't use that bead to tie to the parent metal- if you are confussed well. join the club.
i am a driller for Nabors in co. and utah. (read glorified posthole digger, babysitter for fluffnecks) but have wrenched and operated heavy equip. and cranes,
the good Lord is with you all, why things like this happen we don't know or understand- but he is in control, he will bless and keep you,ya'll is in our prayers, God bless, jimmy& mary seale
St. jbc, i don't have one of them yet but i think any "better" steel will work ok by it's self, and with use it will wear into the edge you want then maybe go with hard face rod. there are folks here that do know more about those things than me, so listen up and you will get some way better advise, just my .02 worth, jimmy
all said you have lot's to think about, i also have a old mud flap i put down where i stand at the anvil to stand on and it helps me- but then again i'm just a broke down roughneck that has everything hurting, best of luck and get well, jimmy
mine was already here when we got the house so it is cracked some but still in good shape.if concrete watch out for spalling it with hot metal, but i have aquired some mud flaps that i put down around the anvil and it seams to help my ol bones too. but use what you have and then decide what you want, the gravel sounds good too, but i haven't used that before. best of luck, jimmy
well i ain't as bad as i used to be- well maybe on occasion. but forging, 3-400 rounds at the range,or a scooter ride, will help no doubt! but self time is important and will help you get your ,,,, togather.
i have tried a few projects, all i can say is don't bite off more than you can chew. try s- hooks and let your imagination lead you. pick projects you like and work on hammer technique/ control. and have fun!! good luck, jimmy
