  1. Very nicely done. Thanks, for all the pics.
  2. The twists are well done and really give the piece a nice touch. The whole piece is very well done.
  3. Very well designed. Compliments the property. Thanks for posting this.
  4. Beautiful work. I like the way the plate is recessed into the door. Makes it look, like it really belongs there. Very nice.
  5. Id set a good size post on the ground. Remove enough of a recess to seat the anvil in snugly. Then, put it to use.
  6. Nice work, Bart. Thanks for posting.
  7. Great use of resources. Forge on.
  8. Have you considered buying coke. Clean burning. No smoke or smell.
  9. Impressive. Well done.
  10. Never seen one of those before. Thanks, for posting. Nice.
  11. 4"x4"x 51/2"......I have London Pattern anvils also. But the one pictured is my favorite. I rarely if ever used the horn or hardy tools, so I never miss them. I always made scrolls and such off the edge of the anvil. All I ever used, was the face directly above the waist. So, I eventually just got down to what I actually used, so to speak.
  12. My arthritic hips and spinal column require the chair.
  13. This isn't my only anvil, but it is my favorite. This little block of iron feels just as solid as my 100 lb. Kolswa.
  14. I like the way you think, Mr. Powers. He is living a little dangerously.
  15. I was in the grocery store this morning. A gentleman approached me and asked, if that was my truck in the parking lot with the anvil plate on the front bumper. After I answered yes, He told me he had an anvil if I wanted one. I went to take a look. 56lb. Peter Wright, $50.. Not bad for a grocery store find!
  16. That double fuller is a very nice touch. Well done, sir.
  17. Looks good. I agree with the others about the chain. I like making chain like the one Frosty suggested, made with closed s-hooks.
  18. Nice work.Much better than my first. I've done them using a hack saw. cutting wheel, cutting torch and a slitting chisel. I'm sure a band saw of some configuration would be the way to go. Well done.
  19. Offsetting the boards wasn't my idea. I've seen pictures of others built this way. The anvil has a 3/4" spike about 4 or 5 inches long welded to the bottom. Frosty, I'm sure you are right about the bolts being aligned and wood splitting. I'll certainly keep that in mind next time.
