Just recently my duties expanded into turning the forge blower for her. I love every minute of it.:D

Woohoo! That's the dream!

I also keep telling my 2-month-old daughter that we'll have her forging in no time.

Yep, kids learn fast, and those of a email persuasion tend to outstrip those of the masculine persuasion in skill pretty darn fast.

I have two daughters. Both spent their time loving playing in the flame.

Alas neither became blacksmiths although my older daughter has gone on to be pretty involved in horses. She went shoeing with me too.

If she's like I was and probably most other little girls, she'll love doing whatever Daddy does.

I always try to bring along a couple of smithing books that include stuff made by Women smiths---to show that the craft isn't linked to the Y chromosome!

"The Backyard Blacksmith" is one I keep on hand, and one showing Roberta Elliott's work,  and,... not hard to find a number of excellent XX smiths out there.

I can also speak form experience that Females generally make better students; as they tend to listen to what you are saying watch what you are showing and NOT assume they know it already.

I had a lady work for me for about 3 years. We did everything from restoration smithing to log house building. What a joy and a fine memory.
