November 16, 20196 yr I have two daughters. Both spent their time loving playing in the flame. Alas neither became blacksmiths although my older daughter has gone on to be pretty involved in horses. She went shoeing with me too.

November 18, 20196 yr I always try to bring along a couple of smithing books that include stuff made by Women smiths---to show that the craft isn't linked to the Y chromosome! "The Backyard Blacksmith" is one I keep on hand, and one showing Roberta Elliott's work, and,... not hard to find a number of excellent XX smiths out there. I can also speak form experience that Females generally make better students; as they tend to listen to what you are saying watch what you are showing and NOT assume they know it already.
November 24, 20196 yr I had a lady work for me for about 3 years. We did everything from restoration smithing to log house building. What a joy and a fine memory.
