JTS
I recently traded for a new to me anvil. I was wondering if you guys can tell me anything about it, maybe the manufacturer? I don’t see a name stamped on it.
Steve Sells
Did it ever occur to you to post this in the anvil section? I will relocate it
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Welcome to IFI... Knowing your location may help to ID the anvil. From the weight stamping it should weigh close to 396 pounds. Looks to be in good shape.

Sorry I thought I did, but I had to use my phone to upload the pictures and it was a little difficult to navigate on my phone. I updated my location to show that I am from Wichita Falls, TX
Marc1
Lovely anvil! Just the right size and shape. Someone sleeved the hardy to use smaller tools. There is some writing on it. Use chalk to reveal it. All I can see is RKANS ... and HO ... I really like it. Did you pay much for it? Any manufacturers in ARKANSAS perhaps? JTS
I traded a rifle for it. I don't plan on getting rid of it I have been looking for a nice large anvil like this for a while. I figure I have around $1300 in it.
Marc1
Not bad for this days of anvil craze. (Must have been a good rifle ) Does she sing right all over?
JTS
Yes, she has a nice ring from end to end.

John McPherson
Since the only words that I can seem to make out in the first photo are "shEFField" "wARREnted" "MOuse" "HOle", I am afraid I can't help you.
JTS
Wow, I didn’t see any of those word. But I don’t know what I’m looking for either. Thanks.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Yep... John has it right. Google mouse hole double horn anvil, plenty of info there.
Daswulf
Certainly no mouse hole I have seen before. Great spotting John! I'd love to find one of these.
JHCC
Does that weight marking say 3-2-4? That would make it 396 pounds, or a bit over $3/pound. Not half bad for an anvil that size, let alone The Undisputed King of Anvils™.
ThomasPowers
You mean the "Oft Disputed King of Anvils"?
Frosty
It's NOT a Soderfors John, weren't you paying attention? Oh I get it you were joking. Really nice score! Beautiful top shelf anvil and great shop size. We give each other hard times over who's anvil is the better. It's nothing serious, just funnin. Frosty The Lucky. ThomasPowers
Them SolderForged anvil owners are always talking loud about their anvils; us Fisher users still have our hearing...
JHCC
Eh? What's that, sonny?
JTS
I got a scale and weighed it. It came in at 389.2, but it wasn’t a high dollar scale.
Frosty
I can't argue about how nice it is to use a Fisher and not have to wear ear protection and shout. It's one of those trade off things but if you get the right ear protection you can listen to the radio or chip or your Rice Crispies the next day. 389.2 is close enough, anvils weren't weighed on precision scales back in the day and they tend to lose a little weight over the years. The 0.2 lbs might be the sleeve in the hardy hole. Frosty The Lucky.
