September 21, 20178 yr Finally took the plunge and got set up to forge metal this spring. I've been working metal for a while, but never over an anvil. A friend commissioned this anniversary gift, and I finally got it finished. It's a waterfall trellis, about 68" tall made mostly of 1/2" square bar.
September 21, 20178 yr Looks nice, did you work from his drawings or is it your design? How is it finished? Frosty The Lucky.
September 21, 20178 yr The spirals make all the difference and I think it looks BETTER with the variation in them---more like water looks like in the wild!
September 22, 20178 yr Author I worked from my own drawings /design. I just gave it a pickle and it will rust on its own.
September 24, 20178 yr Yep, I agree with the others, nice design which keeps the mind rolling when looking at it. Looks Great !
September 25, 20178 yr Wow, that's beautiful. Especially for a guy who has never worked over an anvil, before!
September 26, 20178 yr Very sharp bit of work! I really like the clean transitions between the scrolls and parent bar. Did you drill through the 1/2" stock and plug weld the scroll ends? Definitely very nice.

Definitely very nice. I welded in the scrolls on the back side. It was the easiest way to join everything together and provide enough strength.
September 29, 20178 yr Super nice. I like the way it will "spill" out or off of something. I'd set it in a basin of blue glass beads for a water effect.
October 1, 20178 yr Author Super nice. I like the way it will "spill" out or off of something. I'd set it in a basin of blue glass beads for a water effect. I had originally planned to place a flat piece of sandstone underneath the base, but I think I like your idea better. I'll mention it to my friends when they come to pick it up.
