bebeaux
Finally took the plunge and got set up to forge metal this spring. I've been working metal for a while, but never over an anvil. A friend commissioned this anniversary gift, and I finally got it finished. It's a waterfall trellis, about 68" tall made mostly of 1/2" square bar. Frosty
Looks nice, did you work from his drawings or is it your design? How is it finished? Frosty The Lucky.
ThomasPowers
The spirals make all the difference and I think it looks BETTER with the variation in them---more like water looks like in the wild!
bebeaux
I worked from my own drawings /design. I just gave it a pickle and it will rust on its own.
ausfire
Nice piece. The randomly placed scrolls look good. Well done!

C-1ToolSteel
Wow, that's beautiful. Especially for a guy who has never worked over an anvil, before!
VaughnT
Very sharp bit of work! I really like the clean transitions between the scrolls and parent bar. Did you drill through the 1/2" stock and plug weld the scroll ends? Definitely very nice.

It was the easiest way to join everything together and provide enough strength.

zadvorney
Super nice. I like the way it will "spill" out or off of something. I'd set it in a basin of blue glass beads for a water effect.

I had originally planned to place a flat piece of sandstone underneath the base, but I think I like your idea better. I'll mention it to my friends when they come to pick it up.
