Jasent
Got my regulator repaired and forge plumbed up. Still waiting on refractory but I just couldn't wait so I I fired it up. 10 psi was plenty even in the 20 mph wind. Got a flutter once with a hard gust so I turned it up to 13 psi and no burps. Even with the heavy wind. Got another burner built yesterday. Going to build a larger forge for big projects this winter.
Frosty
Oooooh PRETTY! Stable in a wind at 10psi? By George I believe you've got it! Frosty The Lucky.
Jasent
I would say it was a lot better at 13 but 10 was plenty when the gusts weren't hard. Kastolite and metirkotte should be here soon. Thanks frosty
Frosty
Thank you Jason. You don't know what a kick it is to see someone make a T sing so sweetly. I was always happy they worked well enough, I was aiming for easy to build with minimum tools and shop skills. The more of you guys that actually take the time to tinker with a purpose the better they're working. Mine aren't stable in almost any breeze at any psi. The T driven NARB being an exception but it's the only propane burner I've done much tinkering with in years. It is good to see you get that kind of performance from a T burner. Frosty The Lucky. Jasent
I was tickled pink my self. Look forward to more tinkering. Ease of the build is why I chose them. I would love to make my next one an narb.
Jasent
Got a little time today. First coat of kast o lite applied.
Jasent
Got a little fogging in today. First time in weeks. Also first time with my new "anvil". Love it! Much much better than the rail! didnt have time to finish it up but I started a steak flipper
Frosty
Make a set and sell them as hurricane tent stakes. I have to say though, it's really hard to believe you like that big heavy old anvil better than a petite easy to move around rail anvil. So accounting for taste I guess. I'll bet that's good to work on, you didn't make it bounce did you? Frosty The Lucky.
Jasent
I don't know if my 8#er could even budge it!. Haven't built a stand yet so I just settled it in the gravel and pulled up a bucket.
Jasent
First steak flipper. These are fun. Soon as I get my vice set back up I'll do some nicer twists.
Frosty
A twist for the handle looks more like a proper tool. Remember the ladies don't like sharp corners like men do, They're especially fond of rope twists, at least break the corners. Frosty The Lucky. Jasent
I was thinking pinapple twist for the handle then reverse twists to jus before the hook. Thought about upsetting the head to a round ball. Work in progress
Frosty
The ladies don't like pineapple twists very much the points hurt their hands. In my experience anyway. Nice reverse twists are hard to beat, everybody likes them. Frosty The Lucky.
Tubalcain2
I really like barley twists for handles on stuff like that. (with round stock of course). they are comfortable and easy to clean for food utensils.
Jasent
I'm not familiar with the barely twist. I'll have to look in to it. Frosty I'm not worried about impressing the ladies. This one is for me. Plus I like to hammer down the points a bit my self. I've broke 2 sets of tongs in 3 days so my next projects will be tongs. Round bit and some pick up tongs
Jasent
Well after trials and many errors I have finished my 7th set of tongs. They hold very well and feel good in the hand tho I did make some mistakes. Got my V a little to one side and that caused plenty off issues getting them to line up so I ended up hammering them flat and trying to form them around 1/2" round. The jaws don't look pretty but they do hold very well. I learned a lot on these and think my next set will be much much better. I like this style. Slitting is much faster than drawing out! This started as 1"X5/16" flat bar. I saw this demo on wcb"s YouTube Chanel
Hotshoein4 (Mark)
Turned out nice. I watched the same video. I like tong reins with the shoulders in them opposed to straight reins. Looks a bit better. Nice job
Jasent
Thank you. I like the looks a lot better too. I think my next pair will be much better
Tzelik Hammar
I'm still struggling to get tongs right, so forgive a dumb question. What do the shoulders accomplish?
Hotshoein4 (Mark)
A bit of strength up near the boss, but I think mostly sex appeal. I personally like the looks. And when made, it takes some extra skill to achieve a nice looking shoulder. Are they needed, nope, but they look nice and show some hammer skills. Jasent
I agree. Love the look myself
Tzelik Hammar
Ah. Well, looks aren't the important thing for me right now. Nobody sees my tongs but me! I just want to successfully forge a decent pair. Murphy loves me, and thinks my tong attempts are especially hilarious.
Hotshoein4 (Mark)
Yup, make what you can now, but it's not a bad idea to have goals. And honestly, they're not horrible to make. Just something to shoot for is all.

Check out the tongs in the Mastermyr find, they're pretty simple and effective. Shoulders are the perfect place for your Sweety to lay her head at the movies. Frosty The Lucky. Tzelik Hammar
I'll post a pic when I finish a pair! So far I have a bunch of weird shaped sides that don't fit together. Tomorrow is a forge day though, so fingers crossed!
