December 28, 2025Dec 28 Author Thank you Brian, I appreciate it. It's good to have backup. Frosty The Lucky.
June 18Jun 18 First post here…. Thanks for sharing all this knowledge. Here’s some pictures of my forge- about 300 cubic inches, and burner build- 3/4” T burner.
June 18Jun 18 Good Morning Yo,Welcome!! Normally Frosty would have commented already, but he passed away suddenly. Is the Forge open on the other end? You can make a ledge and doors (to adjust the opening, depending on what size material you are heating), with fire Brick. You get more heat by restricting the top of the opening. You can adjust the burner by adjusting the gas nozzle tip position/depth. You can play with different Pressures at your Regulator and by adding or restricting the Air Inputs. You have a good starting point.Neil
June 18Jun 18 Thanks Neil. I did read earlier this year about Frosty’s passing. I do use firebricks to cover the openings, but nothing permanent yet. I just slide a couple side by side in front, and a half brick to cover the small opening in the back. I’m still trying to fine tune this thing as best as I can.
June 19Jun 19 Good Morning, Yo,Use a couple short brick on each side of the front opening, lay a longer brick across the top. This closes the top and leaves the bottom open. You can use another short on the bottom for a Rest (something to rest your work on, not the Floor). You NEED a CHIMNEY to let the Exhaust out, adjust the back opening for this, If you have too much Dragon Breathe, open up the back to release some pressure.Neil

But I appreciate you sharing. Life has pulled me in other directions and I haven’t quite finished my post vice refurbishment. Frosty was always spot on and incredibly kind. I also downloaded this burner guide and hope to build it. Thank you. Much appreciated.
June 29Jun 29 Frosty’s wife here. I found the original draft of “Frosty’s T-Burner”, including hand-written notes, among the many books, papers, plans for past and future projects in his workspace. I’m thinking now I should’ve offered it for sale over in that section and made some newbie smith’s day, but I donated it last month, along with most of Frosty’s books, to the Alaska Blacksmith Association.

She won't accept credit on the document as the editor either. Thank you Spanky! T Burner Directions finished.pdfHere's hoping this clears up some of the questions.Frosty The Lucky.T Burner Directions finished.pdfThose illustrated directions remind me of the first time I tried to assemble a piece of furniture with only pictograms - took me three hours and ended up with extra screws I still don't know where they go. But honestly, T Burner directions actually make sense because they break down each step visually instead of throwing a wall of text at you. I've learned that anything with clear, sequential images saves me more time than any written manual ever could. What surprised me is how much this approach applies to other areas too - like when I had to submit a formal request to a government office and the instructions were just a mess of jargon. I ended up scanning my signed forms and using this fax app to send them because their interface is just as straightforward as those illustrated steps. The fax confirmation came through in minutes and I didn't have to guess if it worked. Visual guides and simple tools both do the same thing - they remove the friction from tasks that shouldn't be complicated in the first place.it was very useful for me
