ThomasPowers
Well I thought I'd show a picture of some stuff available at the local scrap yard:this is some 3.5" sq stock 9' long and about 90 pieces a bundle. I assume the 38000 marked on the side is the weight of the bundle. (scrapyard owner said he'd be happy to sell by the piece rather than the bundle...) the other is the first part of a naval gun barrel Looks like the local University was cleaning up a bit in the explosives areas

Frosty
Slip a little 15n20 between the bars and that's a large pattern weld billet. I wonder how much propane it'd take to get it to welding temperature.Frosty The Lucky.
Judson Yaggy
All of it Frosty!Congrats on getting a camera Master Powers, the scrap yards around here are boring compared to that.

ThomasPowers
this is the stack of chunks I brought home to use as student anvils + another medieval anvil I want to make...2 of my students have already placed dibs on "theirs"
Michael Cochran
At 375lbs those squares would make great anvils lol. Wish you could put one in a box for me. :)
ThomasPowers
375# is the total weight, the big squares are about 75 pounds each minus any holes I have not weighed the rectangles on the second level yet and there was a bit of 1" round stock I picked up too. Michael Cochran
I was referring to the 9 footers lol. Seriously though you makin me jealous with all those 'anvils' you have.
VaughnT
I'd love to use that section of gun barrel as the base for a power hammer!
jeremy k
I think the Navel gun barrel would better used as a rivet header. although it would take a couple rather good sized boys to head the rivet that size Edited April 9, 2015 by jeremy k
JHCC
This is all so much naval gazing.
David Edgar
I think the Navel gun barrel would better used as a rivet header. although it would take a couple rather good sized boys to head the rivet that size Dress the end and it would make a good monkey tool.
