August 28, 201213 yr The past couple times I was in at my local harbor freight I saw that their ASO was missing, so I looked it up on their website and I can't find it there either. Did they really quit selling them?
August 28, 201213 yr I believe so, they have not been on their site since around the beginning of this year.
August 28, 201213 yr Author I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing! LOL! I wonder if they will come out with a replacement?
August 29, 201213 yr If you want to throw away $100, here's one.http://louisville.craigslist.org/grd/3223471807.html
August 31, 201213 yr The last time I was at my local Harbor Freight they had 3 sizes - 55#, about 30#, and the little 15# ones that are kind of nice to have on a corner of your workbench. In my opinion. No good for real hammering, of course, but it's nice to have a fairly firm, fairly flat surface of a fair size close at hand for tweaking small stuff. I see the benefit to having it, but I very much understand why someone wouldn't want to own one.
September 1, 201213 yr Didn't someone say they were going to hard-face one of those anvils and see how it worked out? I've been mighty curious to know what happened to that.

September 17, 201213 yr I had occasion to stop into HF last week and spoke to one of their sales people about their 'anvils' she agreed with me that they were utter garbage and said that they had not yet recieved their shipment of them but were still slated to stock them.

September 17, 201213 yr I was in a Northern Tool store yesterday and they had 2 sizes of the cast iron ASO
September 28, 201213 yr Didn't someone say they were going to hard-face one of those anvils and see how it worked out? I've been mighty curious to know what happened to that. Somebody comes up with that idea every couple of months. I have yet to see a success made of it. Of course here I am where they grow. The cast iron is so bad I doubt you could do it. You would melt more iron out than the volume of rod you would get applied.
September 28, 201213 yr I've seen a steel face soldered onto a grizzly anvil. I won't say it is preferred, but it was fairly serviceable as a basic anvil.
