January 15, 201214 yr A Whimiscal piece that came to mind while working on some mundane stuff Made from 1/2 " plate Sorry for the crummy photos
January 16, 201214 yr Yesteryear, outstanding....could you share a little about how you forged the fingers...did you drift and slit ??? Thanks, Keith
January 16, 201214 yr I think that this is an inspiring piece; a rough beauty to it, and, the subject-matter tones down any "whimsy". Beautifully done.
January 16, 201214 yr let me tell ya, it's a well done piece, ...not very "whimsical" , but well done. I like the fullering betwix the fingers, the nails are done beautifully, a little under cut on the tip of the finger on the next one could only add to the aesthetics. You are making more than one....right ?
January 16, 201214 yr Really neat Mike...could use it for a halloween decoration or something for Easter.. You still looking for a welder at the shop??
January 18, 201214 yr Funny how one man's scrap ends up creating such emotion once "worked". It would not have evoked the same feelings for me if done in a more smooth style. I regard it as the quintessential Easter piece. Thanks for sharing!
January 22, 201214 yr Author Thanks guys It was just one of those spontaneous ideas that seem to pop up from out of nowhere
January 22, 201214 yr Understood. Sometimes things just gotta happen. For me, it is the real meaning of forged. A very powerful statement.
January 24, 201214 yr Author Thanks Michael. I Have a large leaf that I believe that you may have made. I won it in the auction at the Memphis Conference.
January 24, 201214 yr Cool! There are a few around, the last one was almost a foot long forged from 1-1/4" plate! Weighed in around 20 pounds.
