  1. Mike: If you have been that bad Santa should have brought you a trailor load of coal! HO HO HO! Best wishes for the New Year! Armand
  2. A. J.: It has been almost 2 years (according to my math) since your last update! Have you made any progress since then? Looking forward to some more information (updates) on this project! Armand
  3. Some more thoughts and questions. Do you have any pictures of the drill before you started disasemabley of the drill? The gear you have removed; where was it mounted and did it mesh with the gear you want to remove? Armand
  4. Looks to me that gear idles on that shaft/bolt. If so that hole would be a oil hole to lubericate the gear turning on the shaft. Which direction does the gear rotate? Shaft/bolt SHOULD turn out REVERSE to direction of gear rotation. Put a pipe wrench on the head of the shaft/bolt and see whaf happens. Reasemble with never-seeze. Let us know results. Armand
  5. There is a gentleman ("Pole framer") who posts on IFI. I think if you look in the Presses section of IFI he is in a dissicusion at or near the top of the chapter. Also "The Forestery Form" has a subforum on timber framing. You should be able to find someone close to your area that can help you.
  6. Regarding ceiling height higher is always better! I would consider nothing lower than 14 ft. Armand
  7. Do not get rid of the left-hand drill bits!! Use them to drill brokem right-hand threaded bolts as the left-handed bits will sometimes remove the broken studs and eliminate the use of the EZout Been there Done that!. Armand
  8. Some hitch balls have a caqrriage bolt running thru them to mount the ball to the hitch. That could be the crack you are looking at. Armand
  9. I saw the before pictures. Do you have any after pictures or did I miss them? Armand
  10. No way I could get by with only one electrical outlet! But for that you have a super shop!! Use it and enjoy!! Armand
  11. More information on A. J. Clay. Topic name is New Style Kinyon project/drawing by A. J. Clay last updated 9 Nov. 2011. Armand
  12. I too am wondering what happen to A. J. Clay and his new-style Kinyon air hammer build. He was the one with the nice cnc cuts that you are refering to. Maby he will see this discussion and reply. Armand
  13. Also don't you will also need a vertical mill (Bridgeport) and a pattern cutter to name a few more toys--I mean tools!! LOL. Last spring I finaly added a Majestic 3 burner gas forge to go with the rest of our tools. Seems like their is always another to buy and use which the need for another tool or two but that is what keeps life interesting. Armand

The article was started 22 Dec. 2010. The topic name is New style Kinyon project and you can find the article about way down page 4. Armand the article was started22

  17. I f I remenber right Clifton Ralph and Friends were there with a steam hammer firging a new post vice. What was the attraction this year and how was the turnout? I think they have this show every year in June. So any reports and/or pictures and what are the dates and information for next year? Thank you Armand
  18. Steve: Do you have any pictures of your roller mill and any projects that you may have with it? I assume this roller mill is for rolling circles? Any information you can provide will be appreciated. Thank you Armand Tatro
  19. My question is why do you want to sell your father's lathe and tooling? This could turn out to be a big mistake as you will never be able to replace these tools. Do you have any children or other releatives that these tools could be passed on to? Someone in the family that could put these back to work? I would not sell my Father's if there was any way to avoid it but this is just my humble advise. Armand
  20. Grant: How much for the ultimate tongs and how do I contact you? Armand Tatro
  21. Poleframer: How do you power the cranksaft for the powerhammer side of your machine or is their an electric motor or belt that I am not seeing? Armand Tatro
