got the adaptor from internal propane threads (100#er) to external threads (my forge) so now with all full i can have 150# of propane in the shop that's usable

on Friday I started a batch of 1/2in steel dice based on a video I saw from black bear forge a while back and cut 13 blanks, planning to do a 2 sets of 6 with one done then due to the fact our band saw doesn't cut square I then spent the time to true the cut sides on the lathe this resulted in the loss of 2. Then when placing the dots on the 6 i ruined 2 more with bad placement after that I ruined a further 2 by placing the centerpunch on points that where not there due to poor lighting of the work area I brought in a work light and saved these 2 from a similar death then sanded them. can anybody recomened a way to cut them straight? also is it normal for Kast-O-lite to crack after heating and cooling cycles? its been going back and forth from heating iron to 8-(-10)*C at night M.J.Lampert

What about the MADE IN CANADA Nicholson I use a have a set and they are excellent files to use M.J.Lampert

it was a press we bought from Princess Auto and then cut off and replaces the top tube to put the 10ton porta power ram then we went through a dozen leaking hoses to find some hose to use between the control and the ram if you can weld you could build it as its just channel, flat bar, angle iron some round stock and nuts, bolts washers. also pat when you quote unless it is important delete the pictures as well as extra text no it is a single acting cylinder(spring inside to return when pressure is released) I possibly need to have springs for tooling return though unsure how I am going to do that 100% but it was a steal at 230 and my fathers also pitching in. the foot pedal was about 250 if i remember correctly and there are many tools that can be put with it(rams, jaws, retraction cylenders etc.. very useful for repairs M.J.Lampert (prices in CAD)

set up a press with a 10ton porta power ram and air powered foot peddle i need to see what the inches per seconds is but I find it ok. Now to go and make some tooling for it and a more permanent mount system than the bungie straps also a coil spring hot cut chisel i made and a drift that needs some more work got between 3-4" of snow yesterday was -12C(10.4F)last night and out of the negatives now so who knows if it'll stay M.J.Lampert

yes I agree if you can get black diamonds of or Nicholson for your work that's the way to go these where just cheap half decent files that i can abuse and not care unlike the ones that used to belong to my great grandfather my mother found these gloves and got them for me as a joke also me and my father got this cheap press for our shop and modified it to be air powered(his 50 ton is at a different location ) more on this in what did you do in the shop M.J.Lampert

picked up a cheap cold chisel/punch set and 2 cheap files(the most expensive was $7) for jobs I don't want to waste a good file like testing hardness of knives etc. M.J.Lampert

here it is third time is truly the charm torch heated the scroll to much and resulted in a blob I am still very happy with it and am considering to refine the process(allow for animal heads fancier leaves etc.)( except with actual stock and not melted wires) and sell them locally for a little while.(also might make excellent Christmas gifts) M.J.Lampert ps I didn't see your remark when i wrote that pps no I wont be wearing it while working as a. my father lost 2/3 a finger die to a ring and b. copper on hand plus electric equals you get the picture

had a great day in the shop was working on a project for school making a copper ring had no copper stock so I took old electrical cables and melted them into a bar this became a 3 generation job as my grandfather came over to get help from my father then my father came out and helped as well. turned out with the homemade crucible (heavy wall pipe with a piece of 1/2in steel in bottom) and the fact I couldn't heat it proper via my forge i ended up using the forge tipped up and a oxy-acetylene torch to get it heated and poured it into a piece of angle iron blocked off after some clean up I had a nice bar of copper and then proceeded to wreck it as i broke 2 rings i have enough to get 2 more attempts in tomorrow or i must fork over the cash to by a length of copper rod(which would most likely have cost less than the propane, oxygen and acetylene I used to cast but hey experience is price less right?) also o broke my 2 coated bricks for the back side of the forge and have no coating left left uncoated i have melted these bricks before when i built my first setup (hence my discovery of IFI not all bad things are that bad) M.J.Lampert p.s. will give update on ring when completed

I found the issue somehow the threads on the mig tip was bent so i put a straight ne in and there was no real change so i completely took the burner off and there was 1/8 -1/4 inch of refractory on the side opposite the flames heading trimmed some of and that improved it with the old tip still used now to get the rest M.J.Lampert
