  1. Credit for that quote goes to Bob Ross, I was paraphrasing . "We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents."
  2. That might stop the average bear, but theres some stubborn people out there. Always good to have a plan B.
  3. Good old Robert Newton. His Long John Silver set the standard, but Blackbeard was so good. The ships doctor was taking a musket ball out of Blackbeards neck: "Sawrbones, you keep diggin and I'll keep drinkin"....
  4. I hired it out...... I'm not sure how it was spliced, it was direct buried. I got 16 years out of it. Now if I were to do it myself, being on a small farm and all.........
  5. I bought one for my daughter oh so many years ago. A hand made one will be cherished. Beautiful.
  6. My old shop had an underground powerline that went to a mobile home that I demolished, it had to be at least 600 yards from the pole. So I spliced it to bring power to the shop and it lasted for years but gave out eventually. Every time it rained my lights would go dim and running a angle grinder was a joke. I imagine the electricity was going into the ground from the decayed connection. I gave that spot of ground wide berth. Right before we sold the place I cut the wires at the pole breaker so short they couldn't be reconnected. I also got an affy davy from the realtor I did so.
  7. Some people like to think outside the box. DIY is fun if your not under a strict budget, penny and time wise. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Anvil, I can imagine it mayby, but I for one would like to see that set up, if you would be so kind.
  9. Are you at the Gorreana Tea Plantation again?
  10. Lol, indeed it does Billy. Mayby I should have had her add a peg leg and mayby a pirate flag on the stern.... I had her do one of sgt. scultz too which was pretty good. I might go around talking like a pirate today. I'll practice on Jerry. Aye, yee old salty dog, it war a fight to the end. A devil from the briney deep, was he. The swivel tongued liar's last words was, me beard war "greasy as a launching beam and twice as smelly". Arrrrr.... Fix him I did, from stem to stern, flew the sea beast home on a sky schooner. Ahh.. Frosty, tis good to hear yore long windedness, it be like a giant bellows, filling me mainsail, blowing this old bilge rat out of the doldrums. Warms an old squids heart, it do. Harrrr, it be time to cut and rip.
  11. Yes, it may be a never ending thing, I suppose, but that's what keeps us going, I think. Kind of short sighted of me. Arkie, search the web for Bangkok Sky Spaghetti. I've seen worse in Mexico City. Regulation of some things is good....
  12. That's a pretty neat idea, Chenier. I like the paint job on the fish. You might need neodymium magnets for steelhead tho? Wahoooooo.....
  13. Well done BillyBones! Makes me want to practice and try new things, too. Gewoon, I thought you flew the coop there for a little while....
  14. I hope it works as good for you as mine does. I've never stacked bearings like that before. I have some ideas for angle apparatus when I retrieve my bender from storage.
  15. "Every creative act involves a leap into the void. The leap has to occur at the right moment and yet the time for the leap is never prescribed. In the midst of a leap, there are no guarantees. To leap can often cause acute embarrassment. Embarrassment is a partner in the creative act—a key collaborator." Anne Bogart
  16. Another good idea. I'm absorbing it all.
  17. I haven't said much but have been following your progress. It looks like light at the end of the tunnel. Probably feels good...
  18. Such as it is. A bunch of bricks without a frame even to hold it together but it works for my needs for the time being. My old one fell apart before I moved. I am winging it right now..... Not very economical, the heat loss is astronomical. I used a cutting torch to try on that wrench.
  19. I found the photo (proof) and now I have to have my sister photoshop my face out of it. I'm shy.....
  20. It's amusing how these things happen out of the clear blue sky. A couple of days ago I went to the farm store for some special rawhide chews for our dog and something happened right in front of a bunch of people that made me turn beet red, I am sure. I couldn't get out of there fast enough..... Half an hour later I forgot all about it. I can't share the details here. Not because I'm embarrassed or anything, just the nature of the incident. I will say it involved rawhide chews....
  21. The tiny wrench didn't work out too well. I will just forge/fabricate out the big ones and bend a bunch various size small ones like this, I don't have all day..... I don't know if it looks melted over, tired or just bent out of shape..... I'll try some bent sideways too. Thanks for all the help and advise.
  22. It's no wonder, they are all great. I like the one on the left best though.
  23. Kinda hard to do with the more major blunders and fiascos, but you gotta turn that frown upside down....
  24. Thanks, good to know. I looked over that whole series of books and found a few I am going to order. Of course, I'd like a complete set, but you know..... Thar's cadmium and lead in that there dark chocolate...
