  1. I should have said the LF fender. Still kinda rattled about it, tried some pictures but they didn't come out. The critter foot prints looked like a Raccoon to me. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  2. I washed the classic Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 Hatchback. I drive it occasionally but not near enough. I sits in a covered car port the rest of the time. It gets all dusty and sometimes it gets so thick it looks grey. I noticed critter tracks all over the hood, top and deck the other day. Sad thing is the dogs must have smelled it and when I got it clean noticed scratches all over the hood and RF fender. Think I was upset to say the least. A picture I took a couple of years ago when it had 233,333 miles on it still runs and looks the same (except for the scratches) hopefully I will be able to rub them out with some black paste wax that matches the color. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  3. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I've heard from some, the champfer on both legs is an indication of a copy of Peter Wright's design, but no way of being sure. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  4. The crews that used the tools were called Gandy Dancers. I have this YouTube bookmarked, kinda a long view but fascinating piece of history. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  5. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  6. The ergonomics look great, should be a user and cherished by your mother. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  7. It's amazing how much clearer everything is now the cataracts are gone. The only thing I have to get used to is to have a pair of tinted safety glasses when working in the forge or shop. Been busy with follow up Dr. visit's and a dentist appointment last Thursday the 21st to have my teeth cleaned and a check up. The problem with that was my dental tech. was coughing & sneezing through the appointment. Even though she wore a surgical mask and said it was her allergies, which I understand because mine have been giving me fits also. Well Monday morning I woke up sicker than a dog so it wasn't allergies after all. Feels like a bad cold to me with all the aches and pains associated with that. I've taken 2 Covid tests and both were negative so I guess it's just a bad cold.
  8. I thought Adam was seated on a bench while at the anvil & forge.
  9. I made two more from 5/8 round stock along with three leaves and a long leaf. Debi painted a humming bird & it's tulip and threw in a small leaf to go to Steve, for the bouquet that will be presented to Glenn's wife Karen.
  10. Every one I've ever seen runs on 220 volt 40-50 amps. motors. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  11. I don't think it's a Star hammer, at least it is very different from my 30 pounder. It could be a newer improved model though. When I bought mine all the Babbitt bearings needed re-pouring which was a challenge but I managed to get them poured and it has been working fine since (about 25 years now). If it's a Star the name should be cast into the frame on the opposite side of the picture. All the Star hammers I've seen in old catalogs look just like mine. Notice how the pully & clutch is central on the main shaft. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  12. Anvils and cone mandrel's are generally sold by the pound so not knowing what the weight, it will be hard to give a ball park value. They both look to be in very good condition and I would probably offer between $2.00-$4.00 per pound, if the anvil passes the ring & rebound tests. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  13. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. We won't remember your location once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile and add location. I agree with everyone about it not working as a forge burner, I tried one from a wall propane furnace and it basically fell apart in short order. 14. Yep, just like or worse than graphite. I use it in cartridge reloading, a super good lube though. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  15. Another one of my favorites. "Whenever you get the idea that you are 'fixed' or that anything is 'fixed' for life, you'd better get ready for a sudden change." ~ Henry Ford 1933 I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  16. One of my favorites...."Education is preeminently a matter of quality, not amount" Henry Ford I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus Unfortunately Ford delved into politics and a lot of his quotes are political.
  17. They make good mini swords for the kids at demos. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  18. Morris is a vigorous English dance, traditionally performed by men wearing costumes and bells. So suit up and take a video at the anvil to show us. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  19. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. It would help to know where in the world you are located, hence the suggestion to edit your profile and add location. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  20. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. I have to ask, how did you find this 13 year old thread? I watch a lot of the BBC on our satellite TV, love the programing (most of the time). Do you know the difference between Cinderella and British Rugby teams? Answer... Cinderella actually wanted to get to the ball. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. 21. Shucks... What diameter is it? I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  22. Humm I read it as WI... even if it's W1 tool steel, still a heck of a find. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus If I remember right a ball park figure for W1 is $1.50-$2.00 per pound.
  23. Outstanding on the wrought iron find for sure. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  24. Here is a copy of the Champion catalog #52 1926 if you scroll down to the drills it shows the "never slip chuck" . If you enlarge the page it's readable and the chuck is clearer. Both drills are shown the 100 & 102. Champion Blower and Forge Co Catalog No 52 1926.pdf I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
  25. I do believe it has been modified. Here is a couple of pictures of my Champion 102-3 drill presses chuck which I think is original. The original chuck is held to the shaft by a plug in the top hole, that has a flat spot on the shaft. The Jacobs chuck is an addition held to the chuck by a bolt that the original drill would be held in by the bolt. I don't see any evidence of threads in the shaft looking through the top hole & flat spot on the shaft. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus
