  1. Aus, I'm not sure on the laws here in the States or in Canada are about that. I might have to look into that. Thanks Pete. Matto, I didn't get any pictures of it on the hood. i will get him to send me some and I'll post them. thanks Freddy, it's at least a pound or two but I never weighed it.
  2. So a friend from Canada was down and over a couple beverages he wanted a gnarly looking dragon head hood ornament. At first I was reluctant but soon got into it so in an hour with some input from him we made this. Unfortunately my instincts were right to want to hold off as when we were mounting it it fell while enlarging an existing hole to bolt it on and smashed his windshield delaying his trip home by 2 to 3 days while waiting on a new windshield but he loves it and also now has a new windshield. So much for quick.
  3. Very Awesome work! really amazing pattern you ended up with. Thanks for the run through on pictures.
  4. Age isn't much of a factor compared to attitude and discipline. I like Buzzkills idea as I think it could be good to give everyone a shot and if you could spark a little more discipline in a child it can help them for life.
  5. I don't have experience here but I would think rules of the shop are rules of the shop, and you set the rules. Pay or no pay if they break the rules over and over at very least for someone that young I'd make them stay with their guardian and just watch from a distance. It's a safety issue. I'm not in the situation so just in case I am one day this sounds like a good topic.
  6. I'll say it's a neat piece but not practical for any heavy forging use. Value or worth is just what someone is willing to pay for it. Like Thomas said, your best bet is with collectors and depends on condition and completeness.
  7. Looks great Chris. Nice work on the freehand torch cutting.
  8. Beautiful happy child. Prayers still going and glad to hear.
  9. I started by making stuff from rebar. S hooks, leaves, fire pokers, roasting forks, spoons and all sorts of stuff. A lot of it was squaring it out, drawing, tapering, upsetting. Your best off getting the proper stock closest to the dimensions you need but i had fun learning with free stuff. just get hammering and keep researching.

    Officers down.

Always pray for the hate and madness to stop. I agree with you on your point Frosty.
  11. Will you be making a liner for it, or will it be a display piece? Before I typed this I realized that I didn't even know how these were lined so now I've been looking that up. Ugh. More research for me. Lol
  12. Looks great to me too. If it weren't it would just be a goodhelm. I would love to try stuff like this since it was a big influence to work with metal when I was a kid. nice work.
  13. Nice work Freddy. I think, as with any arts, with practice you will get better with getting them even. I think it looks great.
  14. Max asks Dave if he has a chart or knows when the shellfish is safe to eat. " let's clean up this marmot and eat and we can think up a plan on the boat. Maybe we can find something of use along the shore."
  15. Wow is that a cool looking knife! The pattern stands out great and the handle really suits it. Well done. Can imagine when you get that pattern even it'll be a beaute. But even with this one it looks great. Like in the collision repair business when you just can't get that last millimeter to get gaps perfectly matching the other side. " you can only look at one side at a time."
  16. She's on my list, and you guys too. Has to be the hardest thing seeing your little one going through that and nothing you can do but wait it out.

  18. yeah best to all of them there dealing with it.
  19. Very sinister! I like em. did you weigh them? just curious.
  20. what did the spark test say? yeah pretty broad question. how about scrap art table legs? or giant s hooks, or big leaves, drifts, punches, hammers, or forge them into............ you sure threw out a broad one there.
  21. Max is so startled that he loses his marmot and a little water, spins around cussing a short sting of profanity and clutches his club ready to swing. Seeing the guy there and not some talking bear he eases up and lowers the club and catches his breath as his heart still pounds like crazy but that slowly eases up as the guy talks. " Man, you found the wrong guys if your looking for room on a boat." Max asks who he is and what he's doing here. As the guy explains Max walks over and picks his marmot up from where it flew to. "Hi Dave, I'm Max and this is Brandon. We have some others here too. Hate to tell you but our boat was ground to pieces so looks like your still stuck here. " Max explains the story of their trip and the fate of their boat.
  22. "Ok Brandon. Sounds like a plan. We can check the trap line first. I'll need to borrow someone's life jacket since I pitched mine in the ocean with the ELT on it. Clinton is my size. Mind if I use your life jacket for the beach hike?" "equipment sound good for the beach Brandon? Hopefully we find something good. I agree with Clinton that we might be in it for the long haul. "
