  1. thats so important andrew - i totally agree about the symetry :) a mirror image would be extremely dull and not at all how living things are.... an incredible and wonderful job - i hope you feel really happy about the work, thanks for documenting so well, its been a pleasure :) happy christmas, if your doing that stuff.. :)
  2. nice YYF they look well made and simple and classic - and most importantly stable!! i cant bear candlesticks that are going to fall over. :)
  3. thats so SWEET!!!!! bless your heart rusty :)
  4. thats nice for your granny pugman - just get it hot and punch hole or cut shape whatever you want :) there are loads of threads on those inside out ones everyone makes - they are cool too..
  5. i think so too randy, the fading in and out appearance of the skulls is way more subtle and interesting than if they has all been crystal clear. its wicked!!!
  6. scrap - have just caught up with your thread - its blinkin marvellous!!! her face , as you rightly said was the biggest challenge, and youve done it beautifully, its really touching, she looks young and cool, and totally into her mission! the hair is brilliant i absolutely love it - it gives it such a sense of movement. you must feel great now that all the elements have finally been realised, and theres that quite basic joy of any sculptor of seeing something tangible and fantastic exist in the real world, that was previously just an idea. you are the total Kiddie scrap!!!!
  7. wow randy that is sooo groovy! how did you make it then ?
  8. thats great - really Love the leaf!! wonderful texture you left on there :)
  9. elegant is right - particularly like the fat hand end, beautiful shapes there :)
  10. was going to ask how you got those bevels on - were they filed then? they look wicked sam - like the angle youve turned the pretty end off at :)
  11. thats very sweet... a nice object :)
  12. love the details on that fork! really beautiful and unique :)
  13. sam i LOVE that nail.! its great! very pleasing :)
  14. that looks great joe - i know your not so concerned with the aesthetics but it does Look Great! it sounds also, like youve got fab communication with your client, and all will be well. i will be interested to hear about the springyness etc when your done. the forging looks very cool :) nice one!!
  15. daniel your post is great! - really clear and visual, for those of us who like pictures best :) i agree with somebody above, who noted your teaching skills... i will look out for your next post.... :) thanks for the effort youve made to show the sequence of work.
  16. john, i just filed sanded and polished the silver, i didnt use anything else to clean it, the finish on the silver didnt alter at all.. but youre not getting it so hot are you? i COULD do that to the steel but if its burned and pitted maybe ive lost too material..
  17. GNJC thanks - yes ive used borax myself for silver, but always thought us brits were meant to forge steel without flux..... :) i have also tried deeper fire and slower heat, with slightly more success, but maybe i need Deeper and Slower still !! i am intrigued, dan by the orange heat, i find it very difficult to look at the realy bright heats - esspecially when trying to heat it slowly it blinds me even with my o/a goggles (which i always wear cos otherwise i feel like my retinas are getting scorched...) i would LOVE to take you up on that very kind offer dan, that would infact be a total relief - i am coming past soon for more coke as it happens from swan.... i would totally appreciate that. i saw some of your welds against the wall last time, and noted how good they looked..... yes please!
  18. i dont like the burned look that i seem to get at sparking heat.. but i never heard of another way - what flux do you use dan, if its not borax? could you briefly say exactly what you do if its a bit different - your way might work better for me....
  19. thats such a beautiful shape danger :) glad your getting your hands on some clay.. .. :)
  20. sam that is a heartbreaking cute bunny :) nice choice.. also very cool that you will cover your layout table, it will look awesome. i dont know what this toto bunny thing is (where my family comes from you were taught never to say the R word, considered unlucky...?) but looks like he has a groovy reputation :) how pleasing to make hammer and chisels for your table tattoos. NICE :)
