  7. OK my 2 cents worth. I welded aluminum tubing piece work for 17 yrs. You run 200 amps on 1/8 wall tubing 40-60 hrs a week. Have run the red ones gray ones and blue ones. Started my own shop with a 20 yr old 250 dialarc. Upgraded to a 35+yr miller 330/abp from Los Alamos labs. Yeah its an old antique. Weighs about 1000 lbs. Welds anything from razor blades to 1 inch alum with no outside pre heat. Ps you can weld alum with a mig or tig on DCRP. ken
  8. Kyle, Air over Hyd is the way to go. Go 20 ton. Pull a piece out of the fire and time the cooldown time. Then time your pump time and effort. Ken

  10. The cheaper H presses will work. However be prepared to convert to air over hydraulic. The hand pumps require TOO many strokes. You can get a HF press and air over jack for less than $350. Ken
  11. The most important point is not the hood or exahust fan, Get a CO meter, I have 2 1 CO and 1 CO plus gas. Drive the riding mower into the shop and the alarm goes off in less than 30 sec. The 2 step ones work on propane and OX/ACT. Ken
  12. I would cut them off about 2" up. heat the bar till the lead melts and pull it out. There are many types of epoxy that work fine. Ken
  13. ptree, That outdoor pipe also makes the best catails. Ken

  15. Just a note. We have here 2 teens (betcha) one has already posted "I know the answer" is probably in the forum but I am too lazy to look. I " don't want to be told---" The other states this forum sucks. I am sure there is at least 1000yrs of smithing knowledge on this site. Too hard to find things? Stop partying and spend 2-3 hours a night read all the posts. Reread those of interest to you. I did. Knowledge and respect are earned not given. Lastly what is an effective blade? Peel an apple, cut a finger? If you are so proud of them post a few pics. I will now go back and stand in the corner. Ken

  21. Need to start looking closely. Picked up a nice little Kershaw at a sale. It is a good knife even if it says china. Also have 2 Kershaw blurs both USA. Saw the little one said Kershaw didn't look further. Where are your Levies made? Hunted for a replacment pair of Clarks boots Box said Clarks England. Boots said made in china. Tried Wolverine, made in china. Too much stuff from too many countries. When chevy started the hartbeat of america ads They fetured the luv truck (think mazda) We can buy a toyota made in the USA or some of Detriots autos made in Mexico, overseas or Canada.
