they just sent me their schedule for 08...it is a beginners bladesmithschool and it is 2 weeks long 2 different instructors....it takes a year off their requirement for Journeyman...i will check and get back to here with the answer in case anyone else would want to go. There is only one way as far as I am concerned to get started.....do it! There is a thread hear that deals with How You got started in Blacksmithing....read that. I am in my 2nd life and am trying to develope the skills needed to be proficient....I love it! There are so many directions you can take as the trade opens up to you. Horses, art, just hooks are saleable. I know 1 guy who makes tongs for a plant that does something you cant handle with anything else. Some make railings, house fixtures, knives on and on. The trouble is it dont come quick. it takes a while to not only learn the process but to be proficient takes time and practice....kind of like playing an instrament. Find a local Blacksmith Organization. There is a place for beginners on the front page go look. Hope you like the craft !

Man I will tell ya, I am learning this new trade and I am spending 3-5 hrs a day trying like all get out to make stuff work. Did you ever go to your shop spend a couple of hrs makin something the first time and you are so darn excited about it fully knowing it aint much better than a high school project and come in and say look what I did....and you get ....oh! what is it??? then you get told what you didnt or dont do. Usually what you dont do is something realy stupid and you could care less...thankless I tell you absolutley thankless..... but I did make a pretty cool snake...after about 20 hooks...practice practice...I may post a pic tomorrow... Tell me what your big dissing was?
