  1. an easy not so sloppy way is to get one of those clip on lights and put a hundred watt bulb in it and shine it on the tank

  3. My dad was a tool maker...so I get the benefit of all his old tools altho they are not really blacksmith tools they definately add a dimention to my shop....
  4. I know how you feel about doing your own thing...I will tell ya if you try and do those things first you wont know how and it will frustrate you more than you can believe. I am just starting and I get sick of making hooks. I make em tho! and what I do is try and do something different to the tops of them meanwhile doing what I must to learn the moves....I get my little flair on them. I have a blacksmith primer by randy Mcdaniels...good book ...full of little projects that if you follow them you have good habits and it kinda of opens you to do some things on your own...he tells ya how you should do it...it does take time so develope some patience...if you play any sports look at what you did 5 years ago and see what you can do now ....same difference...

  6. yea according to that sheet that steel will do real well for knives...its pretty hard steel to get the metal moving tho...definately a difference between that and mild stuff... one thing I will never need more of is steel my neighbor just dropped off a bunch of mild 1/2 sq,3/4 and 1" all cut to 24 inchs lovely it is...
  7. i guess since cartech is just down the road....machineshops have access to good stuff over the years... They will make some nicee chisels...they are already hexagonal
